Welcome to Itawamba Community College (ICC) Distance Learning website. This site is designed to help you get a head-start in taking our online courses. If you are a new student or are considering taking an online class through ICC, visit the Getting Started section of this website.
ICC is part of the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC). MSVCC is a consortium of fourteen of Mississippi's community colleges. Through MSVCC, students may take courses from fourteen community colleges anywhere in Mississippi while getting support services from a local college, such as ICC. To take a course from a another (remote) college, a student enrolls at a local (ICC) community college. The local college supports the student with a full slate of student services, including advisement and counseling, financial aid, and learning resources. The remote college provides the course and instruction; however, the local college awards the credit for the course..
About Us
Itawamba Community College Distance Learning is committed to providing high quality instruction, devoted instructors, and dedicated student support. ICC became involved with distance learning and the MSVCC Consortium since the beginning in January 2000.
Mission
The Distance Learning Program at Itawamba Community College (ICC) subscribes to the general philosophy that the mission of the community college is to bring the concept of “educational opportunities for all” closer to reality. Because education is no longer limited to traditional classrooms, ICC is committed to providing quality educational opportunities through electronic technology that will enable students in the five-county area and beyond to achieve their educational goals.
Goals
- Instructional Services Goal: The Distance Learning Program will provide online learning environments that foster change in the individual; are not bound by the constraints of time and place; are collaborative in the MSVCC Consortium; are creative with electronic delivery; are driven by learner need; have measurable, predictable outcomes; provide quality online courses comparable to traditional delivery; and engage learners in an active mode.
- Student Support/Service Goals: Distance Learning at ICC will continually strive to improve student online courses and services needed to maximize student potential, to monitor the progress and performance of students in relation to their needs and expectations, and to evaluate each component periodically for improvement of the overall program.
- Campus Climate/Public Relations Goals: The Distance Learning Program will promote an orderly online climate that values the rights and dignity of individuals, fosters respect for one another, promotes the development of self-esteem, and encourages exemplary personal conduct through online correspondence.
