Ware, Denton to head two programs

Dr. Cheryl Ware of Belden and Adam Denton of Tupelo have been promoted to Health Science Division positions at Itawamba Community College, effective July 1. Ware will serve as director for the Physical Therapist Assistant program, and Denton will assume the role of director for the Respiratory Care Technology program.

Holder, Hester receive prestigious awards

Itawamba Community College sophomores Kelsey Holder of Fulton and Kate Hester of Pontotoc have received prestigious Mississippi Teacher Education Program scholarships. Holder’s award is for English/Spanish and Hester’s, for math. Both will attend Mississippi State University.

Receives national award from League for Innovation in the Community College

Itawamba Community College has been recognized by the League for Innovation in the Community College for its work in developing programs in public health. ICC, one of six recipients in the nation of the Community Colleges and Public Health Awards, which were presented at the League’s Innovations Conference in Chicago, Ill. this week, was recognized for its new Public Health Technology program to begin this fall.

Hester selected as Coca-Cola Silver Scholar

Recipient of two additional honors

Kate Hester of Pontotoc, a sophomore at Itawamba Community College, has been named a 2016 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Silver Scholar. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars and providing nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each Silver Scholar receives a $1,250 scholarship and a special medallion.
