Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I earn an associate's degree?
Community college graduates earn more, land a job twice as fast, are more likely to receive a promotion and less likely to be laid off.

Can I still transfer to a university if I graduate from Itawamba Community College?
Yes. Mississippi's institutions of higher learning guarantee transferable credits.

If I have already transferred to a four-year school, but did not graduate from ICC, is it still possible to earn my associate's degree?
Yes. You may transfer back the courses taken at the university level that you still needed to complete the requirements for the associate's degree. A two-year degree is more beneficial than possibly dropping out after three years and earning no degree.

Will Intermediate Algebra apply toward graduation requirements?
Yes, as an elective. However, you will still need three hours of College Algebra or higher mathematics.

Do I have to participate in the commencement ceremony to graduate?
No.

How may I apply for graduation?
You may either apply online or visit the office of the Registrar/Director of Admissions at the Fulton campus or Student Affairs at the Tupelo campus.

If I have received an associate's degree and I re-enroll at ICC, am I still eligible for financial aid?
Students are eligible for Federal Student Aid including the Pell Grant at ICC as long as they meet the requirements of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy no matter if they have received an associate's degree or not. Those with questions should contact the Financial Aid office on either campus.
