Placement Testing Services

ICC embraces the philosophy that students should be provided the opportunities for learning experiences that will help them succeed in achieving their educational goals. To best position students to reach their goals, ICC uses placement testing to determine the strengths and needs of students in English, mathematics and reading to assist in the selection of the most appropriate program and/or course option. ACT scores or the Accuplacer Assessment are used to place students at their demonstrated level of academic achievement. Advisers will assist students in enrolling in appropriate courses based on the student's scores.

ICC uses the enhanced version of the ACT and the Accuplacer Assessment for course placement purposes. Upon their first registration at ICC all students are subject to mandatory placement. Students must have complete ACT scores on file with the Registrar/Office of Admissions, or at the time of registration they must take a placement test to determine the appropriate courses for which they need to enroll.
