Placement Testing ServicesICC embraces the philosophy that students should be provided the opportunities for learning experiences that will help the individual succeed in achieving his/her educational goals. To best position students to reach their goals, ICC uses placement testing to determine the strengths and needs of students in English and Mathematics to assist in the selection of the most appropriate program and/or course options.
ICC uses the ACT, enhanced version, and the ACCUPLACER assessment for course placement purposes. ACT scores posted prior to October 1989 may be used, but student are urged to take the ACCUPLACER on campus for more current assessment of their skills. Upon their first registration at ICC all students are subject to mandatory placement. Students must have complete ACT scores on file with the Office of Admissions, or at the time of registration they must take a placement test to determine the appropriate courses for which they need to enroll.
ACCUPLACER is a computer-based assessment which is given in the Testing Center on the each campus. This assessment instrument is administered at no charge to the students.
