2011 ICC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
Itawamba Community College proudly introduced Mike Eaton and Chuck Burhorn as its 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.

Eaton, who currently serves as assistant to the President, posted a 111-64-7 record as head football coach of the then Itawamba Junior College (IJC) and now Itawamba Community College Indians from 1976-1992.

The Indians won eight North Division championships, played in four bowl games and won two state championships (1977, 1990) during the Eaton era. He coached more than 20 professional players including Ernest Dye, Tim Bowens and Norman Hand.

A native of Ripley, Eaton has also served as assistant football coach, health instructor, director of Student Activities, athletic director, assistant dean of Students, dean of Students and vice president of Student Services.

The former Ripley High School football coach (1973) also won a state title with the Indians as an assistant coach in 1975.

Eaton, who resides in Fulton with his wife Marcia, is also a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Hall of Fame and had the football field named after him earlier this season.

The ICC Family was also proud to announce the induction of former basketball great Chuck Burhorn of Leakesville, MS.

A highly-decorated graduate of Amory High School, Burhorn played center at IJC for fellow Hall of Fame member Coach Buster Davis in 1963 and 1964, the year the Indians finished the regular season with an undefeated record.

After graduating IJC, he earned his B.S. from the University of Mississippi and the juris doctorate from Jackson School of Law and currently serves as an attorney.
