Faculty members teaching academic transfer courses hold advanced degrees ranging from the specialist to the doctoral. All faculty members hold degrees or advanced experience in their area of concentration.
Student Credentials
More than 75 percent of area high school valedictorians and salutatorians continue their education at ICC. ACT scores are steadily increasing; however, students who need "catch up" courses also find opportunities at ICC.
State-Of-The-Art Campuses
Itawamba Community College continues to experience outstanding growth in the areas of facilities and state-of-the-art technology on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Modern buildings nestled on beautiful campuses provide a warm and inviting educational atmosphere. There are approximately 30 buildings on the Fulton campus and 14 buildings on the Tupelo campus, and construction is under way or planned for several more. All instructional centers are equipped with the latest technology to enable Itawamba Community College students to be competitive in the job market or to transfer easily to universities or colleges.
Buildings and facilities completed within the last few years include a 63,000-square-foot $6.5 million Science Complex which opened on the Fulton Campus in January, 1996. The Student Services building which opened in the fall of 1998, is a 63,000-square-foot, two-story structure constructed at a cost of $7.2 million. The building provides a central location with convenient access to student services which includes dining, bookstore, post office, financial aid, guidance and counseling, student housing, publications and public relations. In 1998, the ICC's walking track was completed. Located at the main entrance to the campus, provides students a safe and secure environment for enhancing and maintaining physical fitness and relaxation. A 100-bed men's residence, Chickasaw Hall, opened in August 2003. The 30,000-square foot Boggs Humanities Building for the Division of Social Sciences and Communication opened in January 2005. The 32,000 square foot Physical Education Building opened in October, 2006 and houses a complete complement of exercise equipment to promote physical fitness for students and staff. The facility also has regulation sized intramural basketball and volleyball courts along with four classrooms. In December, 2006, the College opened the Davis Event Center which supports many functions of the College including collegiate basketball games, graduation ceremonies and concerts. The 82,000-square foot facility will seat 2,800 spectators and is equipped with a high quality sound system for professional performances and has been acoustically designed for maximum sound quality. The total cost of these two facilities is $18.5 million. In August 2010, the College opened the 200-bed women's residence, Itawamba Hall.
On the Tupelo campus an 83,000-square-foot Advanced Education Center houses distance learning. A 1,000-square-foot pavilion serves as an outdoor activities center for performing groups, socials, outdoor classes and student gatherings. In addition, the 13,000-square-foot Student Services Building, which houses the business office, admissions/guidance and activities center was renovated.
In August 2009, ICC opened the Belden Center which houses all non-credit programs within the Economic and Community Services Division including Adult Basic Education, Continuing Education, WIA and the WIN Job Center. The 250,000-square-foot facility is situated on a 30-acre site that fronts Highway 78.
Itawamba Community College is a recognized state and regional leader in using state-of-the-art technology to enhance delivery of programs and services. ICC constantly seeks innovative ways of making quality instruction more readily available to the residents of North Mississippi including multi-media classrooms, Community College Network/distance learning, Internet access, and Automated Library system with online catalog.
