- Yes, and probably better. Much smaller classes allow more individual attention. Accrediting regulations for courses are the same for community colleges and universities. Community college teachers concentrate on teaching rather than research.
- How large will my classes be at ICC compared to a university?
- Classes at ICC range from 20 to 40 students. Freshman and sophomore level classes at a university may include more than 100 students.
- Should I plan to attend college if I have not decided on a major?
- Yes. More than one-half of all freshmen who enter college have not decided on a major. Maturity and college experiences tend to bring career decisions into focus. At ICC, students have available the services of modern Student Success Centers to help with decisions regarding a career and a major that is just right.
- Do many students choose a community college?
- Yes. Nationally 55 percent of all freshmen attend community colleges, and in Mississippi, 70-74 percent of all freshmen attend community college.
