Tobacco-Free Policy
Itawamba Community College
Itawamba Community College's Board of Trustees has enacted a Tobacco-Free Policy. This fall, the College will conduct an extensive marketing campaign, which will both educate and inform students, faculty and staff. In addition, information will be provided about cessation options. Full enforcement of the policy will begin January 1, 2011. The policy reads:
TOBACCO-FREE POLICY STATEMENT
In order to promote a healthy environment for students, faculty, staff and
visitors, Itawamba Community College will become tobacco-free on all
campuses. The use of tobacco and smoking products is not permitted on any
Itawamba Community College-owned property, which includes but is not limited
to, buildings, grounds, parking area walkways, recreational and sporting
facilities and College-owned vehicles. This policy applies to faculty,
staff, students, contractors, vendors and visitors. The use of tobacco,
including smoking, is prohibited in College facilities, outdoor areas and
College-owned vehicles including both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses and the
Belden Center.
GUIDELINES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE POLICY

Publicize the policy through all college publications educating the campus community.

It will be the responsibility to the college community to educate and communicate the policy campus wide.

The policy will continue to be posted on the college web site.

Building Administrators will post the policy within their building.
ENFORCEMENT OF THE POLICY
It is the shared responsibility of all members of the campus community to respect and abide by this policy. Infractions or complaints regarding this policy are to be resolved at the lowest possible level.
Any infraction occurring in student housing or within any building will be classified as a Level B offensive.
POLICY REVIEW
This policy, along with other policies of the College, shall be reviewed on an annual basis. Any specific problems relative to this policy should be sent in written form to the appropriate administrator.
