How to Appeal Financial Aid Suspension
Appeal Process: Any student being denied federal financial aid due to unsatisfactory academic progress may appeal. Appeals will be considered on their own merit. Appeals may be denied. Students will be notified in writing.
Mitigating Circumstances: The student generally must demonstrate that the student's failure to meet satisfactory academic progress requirements is due to some type of extenuating circumstances. Examples include:
- Illness of student
- Severe injury of student
- Death of close relative of student or
- Undue hardships, lack of transportation, or other circumstances as determined by the Financial Aid Director. Everyone's situation is different.
First Appeal: If you wish to appeal this decision due to some type of hardship or extenuating circumstances, you must complete the following items:
- Submit a letter of appeal to the ICC Financial Aid Office explaining your extenuating or mitigating circumstance. Attach any additional documentation such as accident reports, physician's statements, third party affidavits, etc. you may have.
Appeals and other documentation may be delivered in person, by mail, by email, or by fax to the ICC Financial Aid Office at the Fulton campus or Tupelo campus.
