STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AS RECIPIENTS OF TITLE IV AIDGENERAL
- Criteria for continued eligibility: (Title IV) Students receiving Federal Financial (Title IV) Aid must meet satisfactory academic progress requirements to maintain eligibility. See the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for a complete explanation. In addition, recipients of the MTAG must maintain full-time continuous enrollment and a cumulative 2.5 GPA each semester. Recipients of the MESG must maintain full-time, continuous enrollment and a 3.5 cumulative GPA at the end of each academic year.
- All student applicants for financial aid must be accepted for admission and enrolled in an eligible program.
- Students who withdraw during a semester must notify the Financial Aid Office.
- In determining need, the Financial Aid Office will use the Financial Needs Analysis System from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The applicant's need for financial assistance must be established by filing the appropriate applications for financial assistance. It is the student's responsibility to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, submit any additional information requested by the Director of Financial Aid, and the student's file must be complete, before any financial aid can be awarded.
- All Title IV funds are credited to the student's account. The student may use any or the entire award for tuition, books, supplies, room and board and miscellaneous goods in the bookstore.
- The student must sign a statement giving the institution the authority to charge any item against title IV funds except tuition, room and board. The student can revoke all or part of this authorization any time.
- If the student wants to charge library fines, traffic fines or residence hall fines against the balance of Title IV funds, the college must have signed permission from the student. The student can revoke this authorization at any time.
- Students have 20 days from the date of withdrawal to return reusable equipment, books, and supplies.
- All students that do not warrant the Return of Title IV Funds Policy will have Title IV funds disbursed in accordance with the Financial Aid Payment Policy and Schedule.
- Financial aid will not be awarded (authorized) until a student's application is complete. If the student's application is incomplete, the Financial Aid Director will notify the student in writing via US mail, requesting the additional information needed.
