Golf Coach

Dr. David Rather is beginning his twentieth season as the head golf coach at ICC. This past season, for the second straight year, his Indians ranked fourth at the state/Region 23 event. Sophomore Justin Spratlin, who was one of only two players that finished under par, completed the two-day event ranked second overall and advanced for the second consecutive campaign to the national tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. Rather was named Coach of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges in 1992. His ICC golf program has produced six all-state performers and has sent eight individuals to the national tournament.

The Holly Springs native earned Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Mississippi. Rather is married to the former Jane Davis of Fulton. They have two daughters, Alexis Jane, 23; and Kate McCleary, 21.
