"This event is a good opportunity for the local schools to see our facilities and great campus. It also gives me and area fans a chance to see a lot of the outstanding talent we have in this area," said Case, who has led his program to back to back appearances in the post-season in his first two years at the helm of the program.

[] Lady Indians swept by perennial power, Pearl River (3/4/2010)
written by Lee Adams/Itawamba360.com
On Thursday afternoon, the ICC Lady Indians hosted the Pearl River Lady Wildcats for a double header. The Wildcats picked up game one, 9-4, and game two, 5-4, to complete the sweep.
The first two innings went by quickly as the defenses controlled the game, but Pearl River broke the goose egg in the top of the third. With runners at the corners, Pearl River stole second base and the runner at third stole home on the throw to second, to give them a 1-0 lead.
ICC answered in the bottom of the inning with a CeCee Austin solo homerun to tie the game at 1. The Lady Indians then took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a Heather Whitworth RBI single.
Chelsea Lukens was on the rubber for the Lady Indians and had thrown four strong innings, but in the top of the fifth, the Lady Wildcats took her out on the game by scoring seven runs on five hits, including a two-run homer. Becca Rogers took over for Lukens and got the Lady Indians out of the inning.
In the top of the sixth, Pearl River extended its lead on a RBI double and the Lady Indians trailed 9-2. The Lady Indians rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh but it was too little, too late, and they dropped game one, 9-4.
Game two was a close battle but the Lady Indians trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lady Indians rallied and pulled within one. With two runners on and two outs, Whitworth stepped in the box and hit a hard ground ball on a 2-1 count, but the Wildcat second baseman made the play and threw to first to end the game. The 5-4 game two victory gave Pearl River the sweep.
The Lady Indians are now 4-9 but have played strong teams so far this season and the level of competition doesn't get any easier for them as they travel to Perkingston on Saturday to take on the Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs.

On Saturday, ICC's first game will be at 1:30 p.m. against Faulkner followed by a 5:00 matchup against LSU-Eunice.

[] ICC softball releases schedule/excels in classroom (12/26/2009)
Itawamba Community College has enjoyed two straight record-breaking seasons under head coach Chad Case. The Lady Indians and their third year head coach released their schedule for the upcoming 2010 season.
ICC, which won a school record 30 games a year ago, will open its campaign against perennial power, Gulf Coast, on Feb. 9 in Fulton.
"We have beefed up our schedule even more to get us ready for the post-season," said Case. "We were happy to have made the post-season the last two years but we've got to have more success when we get there."
It was the first time in the history of the program that the Lady Indians qualified for back-to-back appearances in the playoffs.
"I like our team and we are going to work hard again in January to get ready for our season," added Case, who was an assistant baseball coach at the College the previous five seasons before taking over the softball program.
Itawamba will open division play on March 10 at Mississippi Delta.
Case was also proud of the fact his softball squad sported a 3.26 GPA for the fall semester. Tupelo's Caitlyn Castles, Grett Burgett of Hamilton, Ala., and New Zealand's Lara Andrews all sported perfect 4.00 GPA's.

[] ICC's Austin signs early with Belhaven (12/11/2009)
CeCee Austin of Itawamba Community College has decided on where she wants to continue her collegiate softball career. Belhaven head coach Rick Fremin was pleased to announce the signing of the former South Pontotoc High School all-state standout.
"First of all, it's a Christian based school, which was very important to me," said Austin after she signed the national letter of intent. "Everything seemed just right with them and that's why I signed early. I can relax now and concentrate on having a good season and helping us achieve our goals."
According to Fremin, "CeCee is very impressive at the plate and will be a great addition to the middle of our lineup. She's a pure power hitter, who is very aggressive at the plate and is capable of playing all infield positions."
During her freshman season for head coach Chad Case at ICC, Austin was a first team all-Region 23 and all-state selection after hitting .450 and was among the national leaders with 15 home runs and 64 runs batted in.
"CeCee is one of those special players that don't come along very often," said Case, who has led his Lady Indians program to back to back appearances in the post season and a school record 30 wins last spring. "What I really appreciate about CeCee is she's not only outstanding on the field, but off the field, as well."
Belhaven is a member of the NAIA and sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports.
