Freedom and Responsibility

This has been created to acquaint prospective students with Itawamba Community College's residence halls. The philosophy of the Housing Department is to provide an environment conducive to the attainment of the student's academic and personal goals.

Students will be provided with many freedoms that previously were unavailable during their high school years. The ability to responsibly manage these freedoms will largely determine how successful their college career will be. The residence hall staff will provide structure and guidance, but their decisions are the students' responsibility.

Every effort is made to honor roommate and residence hall requests. Roommate requests will be honored if both students request each other and indicate on their contracts a higher priority for roommate than residence hall preference, and open rooms are still available. It is helpful to return both contracts at the same time.

Each spring, returning students have first choice in reserving rooms for the fall semester. New students are assigned to the remaining rooms based on the date of application, which is determined when a completed application with the $50 deposit is received in the Housing Office.

All residence hall students must purchase a meal plan, which can be used in the cafeteria or Student Activities Center Grill. The cafeteria, which prepares 15 meals per week offers, unlimited seconds, salad bar and desserts.  An optional seven day meal plan is also available.
