Supplemental Instruction Help Sessions

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program at ICC provides students an opportunity for additional instruction from college faculty outside the classroom. Sessions are open to all ICC students who want to improve their understanding of the material as well as their grades. Supplemental Instruction sessions allow students an opportunity to ask more questions and provide additional review of course material.

1. How can I benefit from attending SI sessions?
   • Earn higher course grades
   • Develop efficient methods of studying course material
   • Enhance study skills
   • Collaborate with classmates to improve understanding of content
2. What is expected of students who attend SI sessions?
   • Bring class notes, textbooks, and questions.
   • Be respectful of others attending the sessions.
   • Regularly attend SI. Students who attend regularly are more likely to earn higher grades in the course.
   • Have fun. SI sessions provide a comfortable informal environment to share and learn.
3. What other academic support resources are available free of charge?
   • Peer tutoring in the Student Success Center provides group and individual tutoring.
   • Writing labs are available to assist students with any type of writing assignments. (Writing Lab website)
4. Do I have to be struggling in a course in order to attend an SI session?
   • No. SI sessions are designed for students at all levels of mastery. Students with an “A” in the class can attend SI sessions to continuously test their knowledge of course material as can students struggling with course material.
