The Mission of the Peer Tutoring Program at Itawamba Community College is to provide quality tutorial assistance to students.

    • Earn higher course grades
    • Develop efficient methods of studying course material
    • Enhance study skills
    • Collaborate with classmates to improve understanding of content
  2. What is expected of students who attend Peer Tutoring sessions?
    • Bring class notes, textbooks, and questions.
    • Be respectful of others attending the sessions.
    • Regularly attend SI. Students who attend regularly are more likely to earn higher grades in the course.
    • Have fun. SI sessions provide a comfortable informal environment to share and learn.
  3. What other academic support resources are available free of charge?
    • Supplemental Instruction in the Student Success Center provides group and individual class assistance.
    • Writing labs are available to assist students with any type of writing assignments. (Writing Lab website)
  4. Do I have to be struggling in a course in order to attend an SI session?
    • No. Peer Tutoring sessions are designed for students at all levels of mastery. Students with an “A” in the class can attend SI sessions to continuously test their knowledge of course material as can students struggling with course material.
