STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
The Supportive and Disability Services office is the official contact for students with disabilities who request special services or accommodations to secure equal opportunity for academic success. Students must self-identify to Supportive and Disability Services and provide documentation of their disability from the appropriate source. This office serves as an advocate for students with disabilities and assists them in achieving equal access to all college programs and services. Assistance and information on the Fulton Campus may be obtained in the Boggs Humanities Building (662.862.8173) or on the Tupelo Campus, Academic and Student Center (662.620.5305).
STEP 1
Students must be admitted to Itawamba Community College before the verification process can begin.
STEP 2
Students must make an appointment to meet with the Supportive and Disability Services Coordinator about the location they will attend. Students must complete the paperwork to allow them to self-disclose a disorder or impairment and request accommodations.
STEP 3
Students must submit documentation from their school (IEP of 504 Plan) or from a licensed healthcare professional which clearly states a diagnosis, includes diagnostic testing results, details the students' CURRENT functioning and supports any requests for reasonable accommodations.
STEP 4
Students will request which accommodations they think they will need, and after approval or denial is determined, they will be notified.
STEP 5
Students who are determined to be eligible for reasonable accommodations will receive those accommodations during the semester by following procedures and are required to meet with the Supportive and Disability Services coordinator each semester to discuss ongoing accommodations.
