Gateway, a youth work program, is a federal grant awarded and administered by the Mississippi Partnership Workforce Development Board and Three Rivers Planning and Development District, Inc. The purpose of the program is to serve 85 disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16-24, not currently enrolled in school or and/or unemployed or underemployed. Goals for the youth are to complete the essential job skills training, obtain a high school equivalency diploma if needed, participate in a paid work experience opportunity, enroll in college or in an occupational or advanced training program, join the military or become employed. All unemployed youth will be placed in a paid work experience internship once the student completes the Essential Job Skills training.
Time Commitment: One week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Enrollment Requirements: Age 16-24; Out-of-school
Fees: No cost to student.
Work Experience: 320 hours
