(HON 1911) Honors Experience I - Introduction
Course Description: Honors Experience I serves as the cornerstone for all incoming Honors College students. Regardless of when they begin their membership, all students must complete Honors Forum I. This introductory course sets the foundation for students' academic and professional growth within the Honors College.
Outcomes:
- Explore different career paths within their field of interest.
- Engage in critical thinking and analysis of current issues in their chosen field.
- Develop professional communication skills through written and oral presentations.
(HON 1921) Honors Experience II - Research
Course Description: Honors Experience II equips students with essential research skills, including conducting literature reviews, communicating findings and considering future applications. Throughout the course, students will delve into a chosen topic or topics, culminating in a comprehensive research paper and/or oral presentation.
Outcomes:
- Locate credible academic sources relevant to their chosen topic.
- Properly cite and reference findings according to established writing formats (e.g., APA, Chicago).
- Communicate research findings effectively through written reports and oral presentations.
(HON 2911) Honors Experience III - Field Experience/Experiment
Course Description: Honors Experience III provides students with immersive experiences in their field of interest, including internships, shadowing opportunities or conducting experiments/surveys. This hands-on approach allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Outcomes:
- Identify local businesses and organizations related to their field of interest.
- Gain practical experience through internships, shadowing or conducting experiments/surveys.
- Articulate and reflect on their learning experiences.
(HON 2921) Honors Experience IV - Project
Course Description: Honors Experience IV challenges students to apply their accumulated knowledge and leadership skills by conceptualizing and executing a project or portfolio. This course fosters creativity, critical thinking and project management abilities.
Outcomes:
- Conduct preliminary research on a chosen topic and translate knowledge into actionable projects.
- Effectively communicate project goals and outcomes to various stakeholders.
- Compile a comprehensive portfolio showcasing their academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
