Canvas is ICC’s learning management system, which means that it is the platform used to deliver course content. Canvas is not only for online classes, though. Your onsite classes also have a corresponding Canvas course so that you can check your grades and, depending on the class, even complete some assignments online.

Online classes are extremely popular due to the flexibility they provide. In fact, you probably know someone who has taken an online class or is taking one now. If you are thinking about enrolling in an online course, there are several considerations. First, online courses are not necessarily easier or harder than their face-to-face equivalents. Online learning environments require students to be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent time management skills and possess basic technological literacy.

If you are currently enrolled through ICC: Visit your adviser to ensure the online course meets your curriculum requirements. If the course is provided by ICC, your adviser may assist with registration, or you may Web register for the class yourself. If the course is provided by another community college, however, you or your adviser must contact the eLearning office (662.620.5350 or eLearning@iccms.edu) for assistance.

If you are NOT an ICC student: Before registering, you must follow college admission guidelines. Click here for Admissions information. You will have access to all necessary information (i.e., guidelines, application, financial aid, etc.). You must print the Application for Admission form and submit it, along with original transcripts, to the Registrar/Admissions office. Once this is accomplished, you may contact Student Affairs (662.862.8260) for an adviser or the eLearning office (662.620.5350) for assistance.

Students access their online classes in the learning management system, Canvas, ICC students can access Canvas directly at https://iccms.instructure.com/ or simply by clicking the Canvas tab at the top right corner of the ICC website. Online courses will not appear on Canvas until the term start date. If a student registers for an online course after the start date, allow approximately 24 hours for access.

Classes typically appear in Canvas the morning of the first day of the term. It is important to remember that, for both fall and spring semesters, online classes generally begin one week after onsite classes, so they will not show up at the same time. Students who register for an online course after the start date should allow approximately 24 hours for access.

Reset your password in myTribe, and try logging back into Canvas with your new username and password.

Online classes at ICC require students to complete at least one major assignment in a proctored environment, which helps to ensure the integrity of our programs and provide an opportunity for summative assessment at the course level. Online students must complete their proctored testing requirements via onsite proctoring at an approved testing location.

While the Canvas app is great for checking announcements and grades, it is not recommended for completing assignments due to compatibility issues with external tools used to create Canvas assignments.

Yes. By default, your ICC email is the official channel of communication with instructors, so all Canvas notifications are automatically sent to your ICC email. However, you can also add your cell phone as a contact method in Canvas and choose which notifications you receive via text.
