PROGRAM OVERVIEW

THE PROGRAM

Automotive Technology is an instructional program that prepares individuals to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles, including the diagnosis of malfunctions of all eight areas of ASE Education Foundation certification (Engine Repair, Electrical and Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems, Manual Drive Trains and Axles and Heating and Air Conditioning). Upon completion of the two-year curriculum, the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology. Successful completion of 30 hours in the selected discipline entitles the individual to receive a Career Certificate.

THE PROFESSION

According to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, entry-level wage for automotive technicians is $25,730, and those with experience can earn an average of $52,110.

PROGRAM ACCREDITATION

Itawamba Community College’s Automotive Technology program’s accreditor is the ASE Education Foundation. The College is AST Certified for an associate degree in Automotive Technology.
