PROGRAM OVERVIEW

THE PROGRAM

Construction Management Technology is an instructional program designed to prepare technicians for employment within the construction industries and firms in mid-level management operations as estimators, planners, project managers, layout specialists or other construction operations. Individuals currently employed as professionals will enhance their ability to perform their duties in the construction business. Upon completion of the two-year curriculum, the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Construction Management Technology. Successful completion of 30 hours in the selected discipline entitles the individual to receive a Career Certificate.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the College does not guarantee enrollment in any specific course or program. Selective admission programs have a limited number of openings each year and have specific entry-level admission requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program. Those who wish to apply must complete an online selective admission application for the Construction Management Technology program and have taken the ACT.

Students must have an ACT score of 13 or greater and be currently enrolled or have a recent admissions application to apply for Career Education programs. Completion of an ICC online admissions application is required to begin the program-specific application process. Check this page after your admissions application has been processed.

The selective admission application for this program is available from November 1-May 1 of each year for the following fall semester.

THE PROFESSION

Students completing the program will be prepared for jobs in supervision, estimating, layout, cost control, materials procurement, safety, leadership and organization of construction projects. In the program, students learn workplace environmental and safety issues. They also learn how to identify safety hazards and notify the proper authorities. According to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, the average entry-level wage for construction managers is $46,020, and experienced managers earn an average of $98,870.
