Testing Services for Registration

American College Test (ACT) scores or the ACCUPLACER assessment are used to place students at their demonstrated level of academic achievement. Advisers assist students in enrolling in appropriate courses based on the student's scores.

  • 2012 and subsequent graduates who score in the lowest level of placement in two disciplines will be limited to 14 hours in their first semester at ICC.
  • 2012 and subsequent graduates who are placed in the lowest level of developmental courses, and who are full-time, must take the prescribed developmental courses during their first semester.
  • Part-time students must begin the developmental sequence no later than when 12 credit hours have been earned.
  • Online courses will be available through ICC for each developmental course.

ACCUPLACER is a computer-based assessment given for free to students. Placement testing, which is used to determine the strengths and needs of students in English, Mathematics and Reading, assists with selection of the most appropriate program and course options. Courses requiring scores for placements are all Biology, English, History, Mathematics, Physical Science and Reading Scores.

The ACCUPLACER Assessment is available on the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. For additional information concerning ACCUPLACER, please call 662.862.8039.
