PROGRAM OVERVIEW
THE PROGRAM
This program prepares individuals in the management and production of forest resources. It includes instruction in woods and field skills, tree identification, timber measurement, logging and timber harvesting, forest preparation and regeneration, forest fire fighting, resource management, equipment operation and maintenance, record keeping, sales and purchasing operations and personnel supervision. Upon completion of the two-year curriculum, the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Forestry Technology.

According to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, the entry-level wage for forestry technicians is $28,594, and those with experience can earn an average of $41,732.
