PROGRAM OVERVIEW

THE PROGRAM

Industrial Maintenance Technology is a career education program designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as multi-skilled maintenance technicians. Industrial maintenance trade technicians are responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machinery used in the manufacturing or industrial environment. Students receive basic instruction in a wide variety of areas, including safety, machinery maintenance and troubleshooting/service, blueprint reading, basic welding and cutting operations, fundamentals of piping and hydro-testing and fundamentals of industrial electricity. Upon completion of this two-year curriculum, the student is awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology. Successful completion of 30 hours in the selected discipline entitles the individual to receive a Career Certificate.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the College does not guarantee enrollment in any specific course or program. Selective admission programs have a limited number of openings each year and have specific entry-level admission requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program. Those who wish to apply must complete an online selective admission application for the Industrial Maintenance program and have taken the ACT.

Students must have an ACT score of 13 or greater and be currently enrolled or have a recent admissions application to apply for Career Education programs. Completion of an ICC online admissions application is required to begin the program-specific application process. Check this page after your admissions application has been processed.

The selective admission application for this program is available from November 1-May 30 of each year for the following fall semester.

THE PROFESSION

According to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, the entry-level wage for industrial maintenance technicians is $53,670 annually and those with experience can earn an average of $62,380 annually.
