College Closing
In the event of inclement weather, the President of the College will make the determination to close the College as soon as practical. Closure will be announced by the following radio and television stations: WTVA, Tupelo; WCBI, Columbus; all major local radio stations in ICC's five-county district; and on the website of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal and disseminated through ICC Alert and ICC's website.

Emergency Mass Notification System (ICC Alert)
Itawamba Community College has an emergency mass notification system for students, faculty and staff. ICC Alert provides information in case of emergencies or imminent danger situations. This includes class closure because of inclement weather. Messages are sent via text, voice, email and phone.

Campus Safety and Security

The safety and security of all members and guests of the campus community are of primary concern to Itawamba Community College. Students, faculty, staff and guests of the College are encouraged to report emergencies and criminal activity to the Campus Police office. An officer will take a report and follow up on the complaint. Officials strongly encourage adherence to all college, local, state and federal laws and rules of conduct, as well as a measure of common sense to ensure maximum security.

The primary objective of the Campus Police Department is to provide a safe and healthy environment that enhances the campus/location learning experience and complements the College's educational mission.

Not only is the department responsible for law enforcement, security and emergency response, but it is also responsible for providing support services tailored to meet the needs of the college community.

To park in ADA-designated spaces at an ICC location, you will need a state-issued handicap placard or plate in your name as well as a required campus/location-specific parking permit, which you can obtain from the Campus Police office. Full-time Campus Police officers are certified by the State of Mississippi and are sworn police officers. Most officers have received basic training from the area's academies. All receive continuous in-service training in law enforcement areas and human relations. The Campus Police officers conduct vehicle and foot patrols and are charged with the responsibility of enforcement of federal, state and local laws as well as college policies and regulations. Staff members are service-oriented and committed to the safety and well being of those associated with the campus. The Campus Police Department provides crime prevention, criminal investigation, traffic and parking control, disaster coordination, maintenance of public order and other related services.

Campus Security Act of 1990
Under the provisions of this Act, students, employees and applicants are notified of the prevalence of crimes on campus. Annual reports of major crimes and lesser crimes are reported to students annually. Statistics listed below inform students, employees and applicants of the crimes that were committed at Itawamba Community College.

• Major Crimes: Include statistical information for murder, forcible sex offenses, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft.
• Lesser Crimes: Include statistical information for liquor law violations, drug abuse violations and weapons possession.
• Interim reports of major crimes are reported whenever major crimes, as listed above, are committed.
