Submit Official Transcript(s): Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended indicating the student has completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit with a 2.0 or higher grade point average (measured on a 4.0 scale) from a single college or university. Credits earned at degree-granting institutions accredited by national or professional organizations which are recognized by CHEA and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) may be considered for acceptance by the Registrar/Director of Admissions. These credits will be analyzed in terms of level, content, quality, comparability and degree program relevance. Students who have not completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit with a 2.0 or higher grade point average (measured on a 4.0 scale) must provide a transcript proving graduation from an approved and/or accredited high school, documentation of a passing score on an acceptable high school equivalency test and ACT, SAT or Accuplacer scores for placement purposes.

A student, who for any reason has a break in enrollment at ICC, excluding the summer semester, must apply for readmission.

Home-schooled graduates will be considered for admission if their transcript shows they have:

  1. Completed the required number of high school units to graduate in their state of residence at the time of graduation. If there are specific courses required for high school graduation, the students must have satisfactorily completed these courses.
  2. Submitted a notarized transcript to the Admissions Office which clearly displays the following information:
    • Student's name (first, middle, last) and date of birth
    • Name and address of the home school
    • Name of home school administrator/principal who organized, taught and evaluated coursework
    • Cumulative GPA calculated on a 4-point scale
    • Graduation date (month/day/year) including completion of secondary school education
    • For each course completed, include the following:
      1. Specific course title
      2. Units of credit for each
      3. Time frame or semester in which completed
      4. Grade received
      5. Description of grading system used such as a grade scale or grade key
    • The following statement or one very similar: I, the undersigned, do hereby solemnly attest that this student has completed a secondary school education in a home-school setting on the date indicated and under the laws governing the state and county in which the home schooling occurred.
    • The transcript must have the name and address of parent or legal guardian with a space for his or her signature. The transcript is to be signed in the presence of the Notary Public (see item 3 below). Signature of the "School Principal," which in many cases is the parent or legal guardian.
  3. The transcript must be notarized to include:
    • Notary Public signature
    • Printed Name
    • Date
    • State/County
    • Date commission expires
  4. Home-schooled graduates must have an ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer assessment for placement purposes.
  5. Home-schooled students must satisfy all other admission requirements pertaining to academic or career education programs of study.

Academic Course Eligibility

Current high school students may enroll at Itawamba Community College simultaneously provided the following requirements are met:

  • Must be classified as a junior or higher;
  • Have a minimum overall high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and
  • Obtain an unconditional written recommendation from their high school counselor or principal.

OR

  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • Earned a minimum composite ACT score of 30 or the equivalent SAT score; and
  • Obtain an unconditional recommendation from their high school counselor or principal.

Career Education Eligibility

To be eligible for enrollment, a high school student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be classified as a sophomore or higher;
  • Have a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale; and
  • Obtain an unconditional recommendation from school administrator/counselor or Career Education instructor

Early Admission

Students seeking Early Admission are required to meet the following:

  • Have completed a minimum of 14 core high school units
  • Have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or better, on all high school courses, as documented by an official high school transcript;
  • Have an unconditional written recommendation from their high school principal and/or guidance counselor;
  • Have a minimum ACT composite score of 30 or the equivalent SAT score; and
  • Have a written recommendation from the principal or guidance counselor that an early admission is in the best interest of the student and that the student's age will not prevent him/her from being successful.

Submit Official Transcript(s): A student may submit a high school equivalency (HSE) transcript from General Educational Development (GED) a High School Equivalency Test (HiSet) or TotalTranscript in lieu of a high school transcript. (College transcripts are required from each college previously attended). Only official transcripts can be accepted for admission. HSE Transcripts are considered official when they are received by the Admissions Office in a sealed envelope or sent to admissions@iccms.edu through diplomasender.com.

Students who graduate from a high school not accredited by the appropriate state or regional accreditation association must provide a transcript with the following to meet admission requirements. Once received, the Director of Admissions will evaluate the transcript using procedures for high school validity to determine admission as outlined in the College Catalog.

  1. Completed the required number of high school units to graduate in their state of residence at the time of graduation. If there are specific courses required for high school graduation, the student must have satisfactorily completed these courses.
  2. The transcript must clearly display the following information and must be sent by the preparer directly to the College’s Registrar/Director of Admissions:

A student attending another accredited institution may be permitted to enroll as a transient student at Itawamba Community College during any semester (fall, spring or summer) in order to complete work that will be transferred to the home institution.

Transient students are not degree seeking and are not eligible for financial aid at ICC while enrolled as a transient student.

Submit Letter of Good Standing or In-Progress Transcript: Present a Letter of Good Standing while in transient status for the semester he/she wishes to attend ICC or in progress transcript from the home institution showing academic standing. Students seeking admission as a transient student who are currently academically dismissed from the home institution must apply to the College as a transfer student and adhere to the transfer admission policy.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the student to request an official transcript to be sent to his/her home institution at the end of the transient semester. Transient students can contact their home institutions for information about financial aid/scholarship guidelines.

In addition to completing all requirements for admission to Itawamba Community College, documented non-U.S. citizens must meet these additional requirements by November 15 for the spring semester or July 15 for the fall semester. International students are not accepted during the summer semester. Additionally, the College does not issue Forms I-20 for the purpose of changing non-immigrant status from within the United States. All F-1 students must enter the United States in valid F-1 status obtained through consular processing abroad prior to enrollment.

  1. If English is not the student’s native language, the student must pass the English Equivalent Test (TOEFL) with a score of 500 (paper-based TOEFL), 61 (Internet-based TOEFL), 173 (Computer-based TOEFL), 6.0 or higher on the IELTS exam, 95 or higher on the DUOLINGO English Test, a 19 English sub score on the ACT or completion of Composition I and II with a ‘C’ or better.
  2. Provide translated financial statement from a sponsor along with a declaration of financial support.
  3. Provide translated proof of medical insurance coverage.
  4. Provide translated records of two vaccinations for measles, mumps and rubella; as well as evidence of vaccination for hepatitis.
  5. Provide a transcript certified by an approved credentialing service company to the Director of Admissions by July 15, for the fall semester admission or November 15 for spring semester admission. Students should contact the Admissions office for the approved list of credential service companies.
  6. Provide a copy of passport.

NOTE: The state of Mississippi requires foreign applicants be screened for tuberculosis within two weeks of arriving to the United States. Students must provide results of an interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) (a blood assay for Mycobacterium tuberculosis; i.e., QuantiFERON TB Gold or T-Spot) and a chest X-ray. The blood assay and x-ray must be performed in the United States. (Students with signs or symptoms of TB or an abnormal x-ray will not be allowed to attend class without clearance from the Health Department.) Students are responsible for all costs associated with the tuberculosis screenings.

NOTE: J1 Status (Au Pair) documented non-U.S. Citizen students may submit an official J-1 Cultural Exchange Visa and documentation of approved status by the U. S. goAuPair Department rather than certifying transcripts through an approved company for credentialing service.

NOTE: An I20 will be issued when admission requirements are met.

NOTE: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients and undocumented non-U.S. citizens currently residing in the United States who graduated high school or attained a high school equivalency credential shall be admitted under the following conditions:

  • Must meet standard admissions requirements.
  • Must comply with all federal and state laws concerning financial aid.
  • Shall not be considered a Mississippi resident for in-state tuition purposes.
  • Must be charged out-of-state tuition.

If the high school or college previously attended by a DACA recipient or undocumented non U.S. Citizen is outside the United States, the transcript submitted to Itawamba Community College must be certified by a credentialing service company approved by the College. Students must contact the Admissions office for the approved list of credentialing service companies.

DACA recipients and undocumented immigrants are not U.S. Citizens and would therefore not be eligible for federal, state or county aid at Itawamba Community College. However, since these students would be coded as out-of-state students within ICC’s system, they would be eligible for ACT scholarships and/or athletic scholarships (as allowed under MACC/NJCAA guidelines.)

When considering whether to admit a DACA recipient or undocumented non-U.S. citizen into a specific program of study, Itawamba Community College shall consider if any laws prohibit the granting of professional licenses to DACA recipients or undocumented non-U.S. citizens.

Adults (18 years of age or older) who are not eligible for regular admission may be admitted as special students to courses which are not classified as academic transfer and complete a maximum of 12 semester hours. Please contact admissions@iccms.edu for more information.

Senior citizens (age 65 or older) as well as retirees of the Mississippi Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) regardless of age are admitted tuition-free to classes on a space-available basis. However, they assume responsibility for the purchase of books and materials. To request this form, please contact admissions@iccms.edu.
