The schedule, according to ICC Continuing Education director Josh Gammill, includes opportunities in several categories: hobbies and personal enjoyment, personal enrichment, professional continuing education, career pathways and senior college. Gammill said that the class schedule includes both new opportunities as well as those that have been offered before. “We have integrated new classes such as an introduction to single board microcomputers and microcontrollers that join old favorites in the areas of art, cake decorating, photography, ACT prep, sign language and personal finance. Professional continuing education is available for EMS refreshers and engineers and surveyors as well as an extensive schedule of career pathways, or short-term courses, to prepare students for the next step. Sessions include March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Magnolia Soap, 100A West Main St. in Fulton, candle or bath bombs ($22 each option) or both ($40); April 1 at 6 p.m., Seven Acres Flowers (Mooreville) at the ICC-Belden Center, create a custom flower bouquet, $35; April 10 at 6 p.m., Sculpted Wellness, 127 Young Ave. in Nettleton, chair massages, moisturizing hand treatments and aromatherapy, $50; May 6 at 6 p.m., Lost+Found Coffee, 910 Robert E. Registration underway for three ICC continuing education classes that begin soon at the Belden Center Registration is continuing for several continuing education classes that begin soon at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. They include Autoimmune Nutrition, Oct. 12; and Beginning Cake Decorating and Basic Computer Skills, both Oct. 16. Autoimmune Nutrition, which meets Thursday nights for six weeks from 6-7:30 p.m., includes tailoring the diet to manage an overactive immune system, the definition of autoimmune disorder, dealing with increased sugar consumption and foods that heal. Cost is $45. Basic Computer Skills is for the computer operator beginner. Included are basic operation instruction, Microsoft Word and such functions as email. No keyboarding will be taught in the class which meets Mondays and Tuesdays for four weeks. The cost is $85. Beginning Cake Decorating meets each Monday night for four weeks. The $125 fee includes the cost of supplies and the Wilton decorating kit, which participants will keep. Limited seating is available for all classes. Registration underway for four ICC continuing education classes at Belden Center Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for four classes that are offered through its Continuing Education Department at the Belden Center. They include Grant Writing (Part 2), EMT-Basic, Forklift and CPR (Heartsaver®). Grant Writing (Part 2), which meets May 31 and June 7 from 8 a.m.-noon, builds on the foundational skills taught in Grant Writing and dives deeper into advanced techniques for writing compelling and competitive grant proposals. Participants will learn how to craft persuasive narratives, strengthen the case for funding and address complex requirements set by various funding organizations. By the end of the class, students will be better equipped to write high-quality, successful grant applications. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an instructional course that prepares individuals to function in the prehospital environment. The EMT course provides instruction in basic life support care of sick and injured persons. Participants in the program intern with an ambulance service providing advanced life support services for the community. They include Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers, Digital Photography for Beginners, Microsoft Excel for Beginners, Personal Finance and Art – A Basic Approach to Watercolor and Certified Nursing Assistant. Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. from Sept. 10-19. It provides students with basic knowledge and basic concepts of single board computers and controllers. The class is intended for individuals possessing a basic understanding of computers and electricity, targeting both STEM educators and hobbyists. Topics covered include Single Board Computers, Introduction to the Raspberry Pi SBC, Introduction to the Arduino SBC and Basic Setup and Programming with Arduino IDE software. The fee is $100, which includes the Arduino book. Digital Photography for Beginners is designed for those who have a new SLR camera or want to increase their skill with a camera they already have. Certified Nursing Assistant meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m., Mar. 20-May 24. The program prepares participants to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon successful completion of the program and the exam, nursing assistants may find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. Becoming a CNA provides an excellent foundation for those who want to advance in the nursing profession. Beginning Sign Language II, which meets Mondays from 6-9 p.m., Mar. 20-Apr. 17, includes the non-verbal method of communication for the deaf and hearing-impaired.
