General 0 Registration is underway through Sept. 15 for a nursing assistant class at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m., Oct. 16-Dec. 13, but clinicals and CPR class are full-day sessions. The course prepares participants to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon successful completion of the program and the exam, nursing assistants may find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant provides an excellent foundation for those who want to advance in the nursing profession. Cost of the course is $425. Nov. 1 deadline to apply for ICC spring 2023 Practical Nursing class Nov. 1 is the deadline to apply for Itawamba Community College’s Practical Nursing class, which will begin Jan. 9. Practical Nursing is a one-year (three-semester) program. Upon completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to take the N-CLEX (national board examination) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. ICC Continuing Education classes set to begin soon Registration is underway for several continuing education classes that will begin soon at Itawamba Community College. They include Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers, Digital Photography for Beginners, Microsoft Excel for Beginners, Personal Finance and Art – A Basic Approach to Watercolor and Certified Nursing Assistant. Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. from Sept. 10-19. It provides students with basic knowledge and basic concepts of single board computers and controllers. The class is intended for individuals possessing a basic understanding of computers and electricity, targeting both STEM educators and hobbyists. Topics covered include Single Board Computers, Introduction to the Raspberry Pi SBC, Introduction to the Arduino SBC and Basic Setup and Programming with Arduino IDE software. The fee is $100, which includes the Arduino book. Digital Photography for Beginners is designed for those who have a new SLR camera or want to increase their skill with a camera they already have. They include Business Office Specialist, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT Basic, Food Service, Enhanced Forklift Operator, Google IT Support Certificate, Medical Administrative Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy Technician. Business Office Specialist will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m., Jan. 11-May 5. It is designed for students to develop basic office, communication and computer technology skills. Through intensive lab instruction, students will have the opportunity to attain an Intuit Quickbooks® certification and receive training and instruction to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Microsoft Excel and Word. Additional instruction and training include performance of technical office tasks, basic math, fundamentals of bookkeeping and human resource management. Certified Nursing Assistant will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m., Jan. 10-Mar. 16.
