Sydney Fisher, paranormal author and researcher of true hauntings and supernatural phenomena, true ghost stories, unsolved mysteries and true crime, will visit the Learning Resource Center at the Fulton Campus at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 31. Fisher will discuss her new book, The Devil’s Board, as well as share other haunting stories. A 2001 Writer’s Digest finalist as well as a 2016 Silver Falchion Award finalist, Fisher wrote her first novella by the age of 15. Her family’s roots are deep in Northeast Mississippi, but she also spent time as a child in Missouri and Tennessee. She earned the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and the master’s degree from the University of Missouri. Fisher’s books include The Bradford Haunting Series, See No Evil, Haunted History Series, The Phoenix Mission and The Phoenix Codes. Admission is free, and the public is invited. Related Articles ICC convocation features motivation and a special visit Itawamba Community College’s 2022 fall convocation Wednesday included not only state-of-the-college and motivational information but a special visit by members of the IJC first graduating class. Rev. Roy and Doris Ryan of Tupelo accepted “keys” to ICC and reminisced about their two years at IJC, where they met. Their visit was the beginning of a year-long commemoration in observance of ICC’s Diamond Anniversary, which will be officially celebrated next September 1. Faculty, staff and administrators packed the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium in the college’s first in-person convocation since the onset of the pandemic. They heard not only the Ryans’ story but also how Juanita Floyd, “a scared little girl,” overcame significant obstacles in her life to eventually become CREATE Foundation’s Vice President of Finance and Administration. ICC schedules Spring Preview Day, Mar. 25 High school juniors will have an opportunity to learn about student life at Itawamba Community College during Spring Preview Day, Mar. 25, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus. The schedule includes arrival and check-in, 8:15-8:50 a.m.; welcome, 9 a.m.; preview expo, 9:15 a.m.; and optional lunch at the dining hall, noon. A campus tour is optional. The Spring Preview Day will include information about ICC’s academic, health science and career education programs, and participants can interact directly with faculty within the areas. The preview expo will enable prospective students to visit with programs, offices, departments and student organizations to learn more about academic and student involvement opportunities. ICC schedules registration opportunity, orientation sessions beginning in November Adult learners, transfer students and those who are being readmitted can register for the 2023 spring semester at Itawamba Community College beginning Nov. 16. December 22 high school graduates will have an opportunity to register during special orientation sessions, Nov. 17 and Dec. 8, at 1 p.m., at the Tupelo Campus. “Orientation for December graduates is a valuable first step toward a successful college career, and ICC offers it at no cost to provide the best start for our students,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation.
