General 0 Registration is continuing for fall semester classes at Itawamba Community College, and those who wish to sign up can take advantage of extended hours. In addition to regular hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., from July 29-Aug. 1, the Student Services areas of admissions, financial aid and advising will be open until 6 p.m. in the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus. Traditional day and first eight-week classes begin Aug. 12, and eLearning full-term day and first eight-week classes, Aug. 26. Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner and Mississippi Works CTE Scholars Program assistance. Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Related Articles Registration continues for ICC orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll in the fall Registration is continuing at Itawamba Community College for orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2023 fall semester. 2023 high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for the Fulton Campus – Apr. 21 and 28, June 13 and 15 and July 11 and 13, 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and the Tupelo Campus – June 14 and July 12, all at 1 p.m. A special honors orientation for those with a 24 ACT or higher is scheduled for Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Fulton Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners are invited. “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ... ICC art students among winners in 2023 MCCAIA State Student Art Competition Itawamba Community College art students are among award winners in the 2023 MCCAIA State Student Art Competition hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia. They include Jordan Springer of Mooreville, second place in 3-D/Sculpture for “Jean Banjo;” Emily Sauerwein of Pontotoc, third place in 3-D/Sculpture for “London’s Worst;” Audre George of Pontotoc, first place in Drawing for “Self Portrait;” Piper Cutshall of Iuka, honorable mention in Drawing for “Old Hollywood;” Makenzie Davis of Smithville, first place in 2-D Design for “Jung Ho Yeon” and third place in the same category for “Street Art;” Maria Tinajero of Ecru, honorable mention in 2-D Design for “Ode to Kahlo;” and Mia Coggin of Plantersville, first place in Painting/Mixed Media for “Fruit Juice.” ICC received eight of the 25 awards for categories they could enter, or 32 percent. Together, ICC and Hinds community College received 17 of the total 33 awards, according to ICC art instructor Dr. Dana Arnold. Spring 2021 registration to begin for students not currently enrolled Students who are not currently enrolled at Itawamba Community College and plan to attend beginning in January 2021 can register weekdays from Nov. 18-Dec. 17 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the advising center on either the Fulton or Tupelo campus. Class delivery options include face-to-face, face-to-face/online hybrid, face-to-face/ZOOM hybrid, ZOOM only and online. Face-to-face only courses continue to be delivered in a traditional format Monday through Thursday at all three of the College’s locations, Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. All classrooms have been reconfigured with desks positioned six feet apart, and typically larger classes have been relocated to spaces that will accommodate more students to enable physical distancing. ICC launches partnership with TimelyMD to connect faculty, staff, students with mental and physical health resources Itawamba Community College has launched a partnership with TimelyMD to connect full-time faculty and currently-enrolled students to the support and resources in both mental and physical health they need to succeed. TimelyCare provides on-demand 24/7 service that offers virtual health and well-being to currently-enrolled students and full-time faculty and staff for free, according to Dr. Brad Boggs, vice president of Student Services, including mental and emotional support, health literacy guidance and crisis management by masters-level behavioral health professionals. “It also provides a dedicated phone line for full-time faculty and staff to reach the TimelyCare team for guidance and support in cases of student distress.” Those covered may choose the visit modality that works best for them - video, phone or video chat. The simple, flexible scheduling enables students to choose their provider, day and time as well as cancel a visit and select the next available time that works best for them. Also, students can choose to add a parent, translator or even an adviser to the conversation. According to TimelyMD, “A modern virtual care platform starts with the technology that ... ICC receives AACC grant to support National Voter Registration Day event Itawamba Community College has received a grant from the American Association of Community Colleges to host an event to support National Voter Registration Day. The $2,700 grant will be used to engage students in voter registration, according to Nathan Ward, director of Instructional Support Services, who along with Lynn Millender, Social Science division chair, submitted the application. “For several years, our Social Science Division has coordinated our annual Constitution Day event at ICC, and many of those focused on voter registration,” Millender said. “With this award from AACC, this year we will have an opportunity to impact students on both the ICC Fulton and Tupelo campuses as well as the Belden Center by participating in National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 17. In addition, we plan to launch a social media campaign and provide printed material that will help students better navigate the entire voting process,” she continued. “Organizations such as ICC’s Humanities Club, elected Circuit Clerks in counties within the college’s service district (Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc) and ICC’s faculty and staff will all work together ...
