14 November Adults can take advantage of increased C2C funds in the spring to complete degree at ICC November 14, 2019 By Thomas, Donna S. General 1 Beginning in January, adults who have earned some college credit but insufficient hours for a degree may qualify for a Complete 2 Compete grant of $1,000 per semester to finish the necessary requirements at Itawamba Community College. The grant is renewable per semester as long as the recipients remain in good academic standing. “We are excited to be able to continue to assist students with obtaining their first postsecondary degree, and we are confident that the grant increase will further accelerate our ability to do so,” said Amber Palmer, project coordinator for Mississippi Public Universities. ICC is among Mississippi’s two- and four-year institutions which are collaborating in the Complete 2 Compete initiative. “Itawamba Community College is excited about the unlimited possibilities Complete 2 Compete is providing for residents of our region and beyond,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “It enables us to provide an exceptional educational foundation to enhance the quality of life, particularly for the adult learner segment of the population.” Complete 2 Compete is available to Mississippi adults who are at least 21 years old, have at least 12 hours credit but not earned a postsecondary degree and have been out of college for at least two years. ICC also offers an Adult Learner Incentive scholarship, which is available for two semesters to Mississippi residents age 23 years or older, who have not been in college for the previous two years and enrolling for classes to pursue a degree. Complete 2 Compete is sponsored by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and the Mississippi Community College Board. Additional partners are the Mississippi Department of Human Services and the Mississippi Department of Economic Security. Related Articles Adult learners have opportunity to take advantage of C2C program at ICC Adult learners who haven’t completed work for a college degree can return to Itawamba Community College this fall and possibly take advantage of the Complete 2 Compete program. The Mississippi Works Career-Tech Scholars Program, administered by the Mississippi Community College Board, has been established to serve as a state-assisted tuition scholarship program for eligible community and junior college students by providing tuition financial assistance to those who enroll in approved, in-demand Career Education certificate and Associate of Applied Science degree programs identified through sector analysis to meet the workforce demands of the state, according to Emily Tucker, ICC adviser and recruitment coordinator.
