General 0 Representatives of Itawamba Community College’s financial aid department will be available at area high schools in a series of FAFSA Completion days and Parent Nights during October and November. Parent Night, which is usually a one-hour event, is an overview of what is available in financial aid as well as information about housing, admissions and all of ICC’s applications, according to Terry Bland, ICC financial aid director. The FAFSA Completion Day consists of 30-minute sessions one-on-one with a financial aid counselor. Assistance will be provided with application for federal, state and county aid as well as answering questions. The schedule includes FAFSA Completion – Nettleton, Oct. 10, noon-5 p.m.; Aberdeen, Oct. 11, 1-6 p.m.; Smithville, Oct. 12, 1-6 p.m.; Mantachie, Oct. 16, 1-6 p.m.; Tupelo, Oct. 17, noon-5 p.m.; Fulton, Oct. 18 and 19, 8 a.m.-noon; Okolona, Oct. 23, noon-5 p.m.; Houlka, Oct. 24, 1-6 p.m.; Shannon, Oct. 25, 1-6 p.m.; TCPS, Oct. 26, 1-6 p.m.; Tremont, Oct. 30, 1-6 p.m.; Hatley, Nov. 2, 1-6 p.m.; Pontotoc area, Nov. 6, 6-8 p.m.; Saltillo, Nov. 13, 1-6 p.m. with a break from 2:30-3:30 p.m.; Baldwyn, Nov. 14, 1-7 p.m.; Amory, Nov. 15, 8 a.m.-noon; and Hamilton, Nov. 16, 1-6 p.m. Parent Night – Hatley, Oct. 10; IAHS, Oct. 12; Hamilton, Oct. 23; and Baldwyn, Nov. 9. Related Articles Registration continues; Student Services plans extended hours Registration is continuing for fall semester classes at Itawamba Community College, and those who wish to sign up can take advantage of extended hours. In addition to regular hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., from July 29-Aug. 1, the Student Services areas of admissions, financial aid and advising will be open until 6 p.m. in the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus. Traditional day and first eight-week classes begin Aug. 12, and eLearning full-term day and first eight-week classes, Aug. 26. Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner and Mississippi Works CTE Scholars Program assistance. Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Adult learners who enroll at ICC in the fall have two scholarship opportunities for financial support Adult learners who plan to attend Itawamba Community College in the fall have two scholarship opportunities for financial support. They include ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive and the statewide Complete 2 Compete. ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive scholarship, which provides $2,000 ($500 per semester) for full-time students and $250 for part-time), is designed to provide an incentive for returning or new students, age 21, or older to pursue a degree at ICC. Criteria for selection include enrollment in a minimum of 12 hours (scholarship can be reduced to $25o per semester for part-time – six hours – status), meeting admission requirements and in good standing at ICC. The application deadline is Aug. 15, and the form is available at www.apply.iccms.edu. ICC celebrates STEM Week with special speakers, events Itawamba Community College is celebrating February 3-6 as STEM Week with special events through its organization. They include STEM Club meetings featuring Ole Miss representatives, Feb. 3 and Mississippi State University representatives, Feb. 4; debut of ICC’s planetarium in the John S. Crubaugh Education Building, Feb. 5; and Community College Innovation Challenge, Feb. 6. Although the special events will take place at the Fulton Campus, they are open to all members, including those from both the Tupelo Campus and Belden Center. The STEM Club connects students with an interest in STEM-related fields. Members have an opportunity to attend events with speakers from different fields, network with other students in similar fields of study, meet representatives from universities and local companies, discover and engage in new technologies and support ICC’s five-county district through community service. ICC's Health Sciences Division to host Code Blue and Red event for students from 12 area schools Itawamba Community College’s Health Sciences Division will host a Code Blue and Red event from 8:30 a.m.-noon, Feb. 10, in the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus. Students from 12 area schools will be on campus in two shifts (8:30 and 10:15 a.m.) to view simulations of three real-life scenarios, said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. A North Mississippi Medical Center ambulance will arrive, and the students will see first-hand the need for and the role healthcare professionals play in the process. “It will be an impactful program,” Holloway said, “Our hope is that these students see the ‘real-life’ expertise used by the graduates of ICC’s programs.” Participating programs include students and faculty from Associate Degree Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Sciences, Health Information, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Practical Nursing, Public Health, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology. ICC schedules Sept. 26 Fall Preview Day for area high school seniors High school seniors will have an opportunity to learn about Itawamba Community College during its Fall Preview Day, which is scheduled for September 26 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. Fall Preview Day attendees will also have free admission for the ICC/Mississippi Delta football game at Eaton Field, beginning with a tailgate at 5 p.m. They can select from up to two information sessions about ICC’s schools of academics, career education and health science, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. They can choose which schools to attend based on a selected major through the registration link. Attendees will also receive information on involvement at ICC, financial aid/scholarships, housing and residence life, Phi Theta Kappa and honors. There will also be a question-and-answer session. Student recruiters will lead the campus and residence hall tours during this event.
