ICC schedules several pathways to begin in August at Belden Center

Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin in August at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).

                They include Pharmacy Technician, Aug. 3-Dec. 10, Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m.; Certified Nursing Assistant, Aug. 12-Oct. 30, Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.; Food Management Certification, Aug. 12-Sept. 6, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Google IT Support Certification (online self-paced), Aug. 12-Dec. 6; Medical Administrative Assistant, Aug. 12-Nov. 6, Mondays, 5-9 p.m. (plus additional online assignments); Medical Assistant, Aug. 12-Dec. 12, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; Business Office Specialist, Aug. 13-Dec. 8, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-9 p.m.; and Phlebotomy Technician, Aug. 15-Oct. 24, Thursdays, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

                The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students for an entry-level position in both institutional and pharmacy settings. Graduates are eligible to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification examination.

                Certified Nursing Assistants can find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics upon successful completion of the program and exam. 

                During the hands-on, four-week Food Management Certification class, students will learn the skills needed to thrive in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

                The Google IT Support Certificate program is designed to prepare learners for entry-level jobs in IT support. Topics include troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security.

                The Medical Administrative Assistant program teaches students the administrative and clerical skills necessary to be successful in a medical office environment. Students may find employment at general physicians’ offices, urgent care centers or specialty practices.

                Medical Assistants are often the first and last persons with whom a patient interacts, making a lasting impression on their experience. Among their duties include taking vital signs, assisting providers with exams and procedures, administering injections or medications, performing various essential laboratory procedures, checking patients in and out, answering phones and questions and updating and maintaining electronic health records.

                The Business Office Specialist program is designed for students to develop basic office, communication and computer technology skills.

                The Phlebotomy Technician program prepares students to obtain blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Participants who successfully complete the program will be eligible for employment as phlebotomy technicians in Mississippi hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices and other healthcare settings. Upon successful completion of classroom work and clinicals, students are eligible to test for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.
