General 0 Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for Skill Builders Camp, which is scheduled for June 17, 18 and 20 at the Belden Center. Students from 12-15 years of age are eligible to attend the camp, which will meet from 9 a.m.-noon. The sessions include June 17 – automotive care (changing a tire and checking pressure), changing oil and jump starting a vehicle; June 18 – culinary (food preparation and safety and summer meal ideas); and June 20 – financial literacy (budgeting, how to set up a checking and savings account). The camp is designed to provide those who attend the opportunity to learn basic life skills and have fun in the process, according to Josh Gammill, director of Continuing Education. The cost is $125. Related Articles ICC schedules Pixels, Plates and Paints summer camp Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for Pixels, Plates and Paints summer camp for ages 12-15. Sessions include June 22, 8-10 a.m., STEM; July 8, 8-11 a.m., art; July 15, 8-10 a.m., culinary and July 22, 8 a.m.-noon, digital. The focus of the sessions include: STEM – Each group will receive a complete kit to use their creativity and problem-solving skills to assemble a working solar-powered car, which they will also race. Art – Through a hands-on session, participants will learn simple techniques and create their own “masterpieces” to take home. Culinary – Students learn essential kitchen safety and sanitation skills as well as enjoy a hands-on cooking experience with recipes that are simple and fun to recreate at home. Digital – Participants will learn the basics of iPhone photography and videography and take it to the next level by editing videos using a simple Web-based platform. ICC schedules "Spooktacular," summer drama camp Registration is underway for “Spooktacular,” a summer drama camp at Itawamba Community College, which is scheduled for June 5-9 from 9 a.m.-noon at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. The camp includes classes and performances focused on such literature as “Creepy Carrots,” “The Jabberwocky,” “Macavity the Mystery Cat” and “What Are You Scared Of.” Students who are leaving second through eighth grade are eligible to participate. ICC schedules two drama camps in June Itawamba Community College has scheduled two drama camps in June at the Fulton Campus. Summer Paws: A Pounce Through Cat Literature is scheduled for June 7-11 and June 14-18, both from 9 a.m.-noon. The first camp is for students leaving second through fifth grade, and the second, those who are leaving sixth through ninth grades. Friday programs will be at noon and 6 p.m. The cost is $100 per child, and it includes a t-shirt and daily snacks. Skills That Pay awards $1,000 bonuses to 12 Northeast MS students Twelve students from across Northeast Mississippi were recognized Thursday at Itawamba Community College as recipients of the Skills That Pay “Signing Bonus,” earning $1,000 each as they take the next step into high-demand skilled careers. The regional signing ceremony celebrated students who have committed to entering the workforce in fields such as welding, construction, utilities, and manufacturing. ICC wins national award for manufacturing camp Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT), the foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, hosted its inaugural awards gala in Fox River Grove, Illinois, October 24, 2019. The event recognized those who share a passion for manufacturing and want to ensure its future with a thriving skilled workforce. At the event, Itawamba Community College (ICC) was awarded the Future of Industry Award for its Tek2Go Advanced Manufacturing Camp. ICC, along with partners Hawkeye Industries and Community Development Foundation (CDF), has hosted the Tek2Go Advanced Manufacturing Camp for students the past 11 years and for teachers the past four years. NBT provided the first grant to get the student camp started in the Tupelo region in 2009. NBT offered an additional grant for the first teacher camp in the summer of 2016. Currently, both camps are funded through the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund and held at the Manufacturing Solutions Center at ICC’s Belden campus. ICC CORE Program Summer Camp set for July 13-16 Itawamba Community College will host its ICC CORE Program Summer Camp July 13-16 on the Fulton Campus, offering students in grades 6-12 an opportunity to explore careers in criminal justice while developing leadership, teamwork and personal skills. The camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily in Room 3 of the eLearning Building. Participants will engage in hands-on activities focused on criminal investigations, leadership development, physical fitness, obstacle course challenges, skills competitions, team-building exercises and career exploration opportunities. The camp is designed to introduce students to various aspects of law enforcement and public safety careers while helping them build confidence, communication skills and leadership abilities.
