• Registration underway for March career pathways at ICC-Belden

  Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for two career pathway programs that will begin in March at the Belden Center.               They include Certified Nursing Assistant and Food Management Certification.               Certified Nursing Assistant, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. from March 24-May 28, prepares participants to take the exam to become a CNA. Upon successful completion of the program and examination, nursing assistants can find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. The cost is $526 which includes the required Board License Examination fee.               Food Management Certification will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., March 24-April 18. During the hands-on, four-week class, students will learn the essential skills needed to thrive in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Included in the curriculum are both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol certifications, menu planning preparation, assistance with and execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and front- and back-of-the-house operations. • ICC to host Tomahawk Marching Band Competition

  Bands across the Mid-South will participate in Itawamba Community College’s Tomahawk Marching Band Championship, Oct. 19, at Eaton Field/Butch Lambert Stadium at the Fulton Campus. School classifications 1A-2A will begin at 10:45 a.m. with awards at 2 p.m., and 4A-5A will begin at 3 p.m. with awards at 8:30 p.m. Bands will perform in both a competitive and educational environment. Adjudicators from across the nation will critique bands, color guard and percussion with the same caption-based criteria used in the MHSAA State Marching Band Championships. Adjudication captions will include General Effect, Music Performance, Ensemble Visual Performance, Ensemble General Effect, Visual Music Performance, Individual Visual Performance and Individual Color Guard Percussion. Bands that are participating include Hamilton, Smithville, Mantachie, Bruce, East Webster, Eupora, Booneville, Amory, Hatley, Aberdeen, Nettleton, Kosciusko, Caledonia, North Pontotoc, South Pontotoc, Itawamba, Ripley, Pontotoc, New Albany, Saltillo, Columbus, New Hope, Lafayette, Oxford, Olive Branch, Lewisburg and Tupelo as well as a performance by the Itawamba Community College All-American Band.  
• Mid-South bands to participate in Tomahawk Marching Band Championship at ICC

  Bands from across the Mid-South will participate in Itawamba Community College’s Tomahawk Marching Band Championship, Oct. 14, at Eaton Field/Butch Lambert Stadium at the Fulton Campus. Competition will begin at 10:15 a.m.             The event will provide an opportunity for bands across the Mid-South to perform in both a competitive and educational environment. • eLearning accelerated term

• Registration continues for intersession, summer terms

              Registration is continuing for intersession and summer terms at Itawamba Community College.             Due to COVID-19, all classes have been transitioned to an online format.             Intersession classes begin May 11 and end with final examinations on May 22.             Additional schedule opportunities with start dates include eLearning full-term and first four-week classes, June 1; and second term classes, June 29.             To register for intersession or summer classes, email eadviser@iccms.edu.             For more information, email admissions@iccms.edu.
• ICC Pathway programs set to begin in March

              Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for several pathway programs that are scheduled to begin in March.             They include Commercial Truck Driving, Food Service Pathway, Small Engine Repair and Introduction to Welding and Cutting.             Commercial Truck Driving begins Mar. 29 and meets Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. The program prepares individuals to drive Class A semi trucks and other commercial vehicles. It includes instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, loading and unloading cargo, reporting delays or accidents on the road, verifying loads against shipping records and keeping necessary records.             The Food Service Pathway class will begin Mar. 22 and meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Belden Center. The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front and back of the house operations.
