• Mid-South bands to participate in Tomahawk Marching Band Championship at ICC

  Bands from across the Mid-South will participate in Itawamba Community College’s Tomahawk Marching Band Championship, Oct. 14, at Eaton Field/Butch Lambert Stadium at the Fulton Campus. Competition will begin at 10:15 a.m.             The event will provide an opportunity for bands across the Mid-South to perform in both a competitive and educational environment. • Tomahawk Marching Band Championship returns this weekend at ICC

  The annual competition will bring some of the region's most accomplished marching bands together in Fulton. Bands from across the Mid-South will participate in Itawamba Community College’s Tomahawk Marching Band Championship, Oct. 18, at Eaton Field/Butch Lambert Stadium at the Fulton Campus. Due to the threat of potential severe weather, the competition will begin at 8 a.m. The annual event provides an opportunity for bands across the Mid-South to perform in both a competitive and educational environment. Adjudicators from across the nation will critique bands, color guard and percussion with the same caption-based criteria used in the MHSAA State Marching Band Championships, according to ICC All-American Band Director and Fine Arts Division Chair Ryan Todd. • ICC announces 2026-27 All-American Marching Band drum majors, color guard and Indianetttes

  Itawamba Community College has announced the student leaders and auxiliary members for the 2026-27 All-American Marching Band, the largest community college marching band in Mississippi. Leading the band this season are five drum majors, including Head Drum Major Shaylee Weeks of Amory. Other drum majors are Isaac Jones of Starkville, Preston Foster and Sarah Hays, both of Pontotoc, and Cheyenna Cable of Ecru. "The All-American Marching Band has a long tradition of excellence, and these students have earned the opportunity to represent ICC through their talent, leadership and dedication," said Ryan Todd, ICC director of bands and Fine Arts Department chair. "We are excited to welcome this outstanding group of student leaders and performers and look forward to another great season representing ICC across the region." • ICC hosts MCCAI State Community College Art Competition for first time since 2016

  The work of several Mississippi community colleges is currently on display at Itawamba Community College’s W.O. • Mississippi Intercollegiate Honor Band

  Four members of the Itawamba Community College All-American Band will participate in the first Mississippi Intercollegiate Honor Band, Mar. 23-25, at Hinds Community College. They include Yen Nguyen of Amory (flute), Karli Huddleston of Saltillo (flute), Justin Merriman of Houston (clarinet) and Brett Causey of Clinton (alto saxophone). In addition, Macy Gibson of Pontotoc (flute) was selected as first alternate. Auditions were open to all two- and four-year college band students (freshman through senior level) regardless of major. The clinician will be emeritus professor Ray Cramer from Indiana University Bloomington. He is president of the Midwest Clinic, an international band and orchestra convention with more than 14,000 attendees representing 28 countries and was recently named president of the American Bandmasters Association. He is the past president of the College Band Directors National Association and the Indiana Bandmasters Association. Cramer is in demand internationally as guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator, and he is a regular guest conductor of the Musashino Academy of Music Wind Ensemble in Tokyo.
• All-American Band auditions

  The Itawamba Community College All-American Band has scheduled auditions for Apr. 13 at the Fulton Campus. Locations and times include Drum Major (W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center), 2 p.m.; Color Guard (Fitness Center gym) and Indianettes (W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center), both at 3:30 p.m. Drum major auditions will include salute, two-to-three minutes of routine demonstrating drum major abilities, marching ability, vocal commands and conducting various time signatures. Those who audition for color guard must demonstrate basic maneuvers on equipment (spins, tosses, etc.), marching ability and the ability to learn and perform a short flag routine taught at the audition. Participants must bring their own flag. Indianette participants must demonstrate flexibility (splits, kicks, etc.) and the ability to learn and perform a short routine taught at the audition.
