ICC honors 2026 Meritorious Award recipients

Itawamba Community College recognized outstanding employees for excellence in service, leadership and instruction during its 2026 Faculty and Staff Awards of Distinction ceremony held April 27 on the Fulton Campus. The annual Meritorious Awards, ICC's highest employee honors recognize those whose contributions reflect a commitment to students and the mission of ICC. Support Staff of the Year honors were awarded to Chad Price, maintenance tech/electrician in the Physical Plant, of Greenwood Springs, and Brittnie Wildmon, office assistant in Human Resources, of Fulton. Professional/Administrative Professional of the Year recipients were Jason Dickinson, chief of police for Campus Police, of Mantachie, and Rachel Steele, director of admissions and registrar, of Fulton. Faculty of the Year honors were presented to Adam Denton, program director and instructor of respiratory therapy, of Saltillo, and Scott Emison, program director and instructor of construction management technology, of Pontotoc. Jimmy Whitehead, instructor of industrial maintenance/electrical technology, of Booneville, was recognized with the Excellence in Outstanding Faculty Member award, endowed by John Cleveland and Beth Cleveland. Itawamba Community College has selected its 2026-27 Indian Delegates, a group of student ambassadors who serve as official representatives of the college across its campuses and throughout the community. ICC to host Dinner and Demo featuring Delta tamales and southern cuisine

Itawamba Community College will host its next Dinner and Demo on April 30 at 5:30 p.m. at The Gin, offering guests an evening of Southern cuisine, culinary history and live acoustic music. The event will feature a live cooking demonstration highlighting the history and preparation of fried Delta tamales. Attendees will enjoy a multi-course meal beginning with fried Delta tamales, followed by blackened catfish served over grits with creole sauce. Dessert options include lemon meringue pie or black bottom pie. A peach sangria cocktail will also be available. In addition to the culinary experience, guests will enjoy live acoustic music throughout the evening, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Tickets are $40 per person. Skills That Pay awards $1,000 bonuses to 12 Northeast MS students

Twelve students from across Northeast Mississippi were recognized Thursday at Itawamba Community College as recipients of the Skills That Pay “Signing Bonus,” earning $1,000 each as they take the next step into high-demand skilled careers. The regional signing ceremony celebrated students who have committed to entering the workforce in fields such as welding, construction, utilities, and manufacturing. The event was hosted by Skills That Pay, a campaign of the Skills Foundation of Mississippi, and sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority. “These students are choosing careers that are essential to Mississippi’s future,” said Clifton Carroll, Executive Director of the Skills Foundation of Mississippi. “They’re stepping into opportunities that offer stability, strong wages, and long-term growth, and we’re proud to support them as they take that next step.” “TVA is proud to support the Skills That Pay campaign because it recognizes students who are choosing career paths that strengthen our communities and grow our region’s economy,” said Amy Tate, TVA’s Southwest Region Executive. “We know that when students pursue skilled careers, it benefits not only their families, but also the local businesses and ...

ICC announces May commencement ceremonies

Itawamba Community College will host multiple traditional commencement ceremonies May 15 at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus. Ceremonies will be held as follows: Associate of Arts graduates with last names A–I and Middle College students at 9:30 a.m.; Associate of Arts graduates with last names J–Z at 1 p.m.; and Associate of Applied Science degree and certificate recipients, including career education and health science programs, at 4:30 p.m. The Associate Degree Nursing pinning ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. An Adult Education commencement ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. May 14. “These ceremonies represent more than the completion of a degree and reflect the determination, sacrifice and commitment our students have demonstrated to reach this milestone, and with more than 900 graduates preparing to walk across the stage, we are proud to celebrate each individual and the impact they will make in their communities and across our region,” said Dr. Jay Allen, president of ICC. Doors will open one hour prior to each ceremony. The public is invited to attend, and no tickets are required.

ICC schedules April adult education orientations

Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students in morning/afternoon and evening classes at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) and in Amory (1619 Highland Drive) at upcoming orientations. Registration for Belden morning and afternoon classes will be at 9 a.m., April 13, for individuals 18 years of age and older. Registration for Belden evening classes will be at 4:30 p.m. on April 13, for individuals 18 years of age and older.  Individuals who are 16-17 years old cannot enroll in evening classes at the Belden Center unless they bring documentation from an employer indicating a schedule that conflicts with day classes. Registration for Belden afternoon classes for individuals 16-17 years of age will be at 9:00 a.m., April 14, at the ICC Belden Center. A legal guardian must accompany anyone 16-17 years of age and also provide a school withdrawal form from the last school attended. Registration for Amory morning classes (all ages) will be at 9:00 a.m. and evening classes (all ages) will be at 4:30 p.m., April 21, at the Monroe County Government Complex.  There is no cost for the classes. ICC to host “Bridges to Belonging” conference on April 10

As the need for meaningful support systems for neurodivergent students continues to grow, Itawamba Community College’s Bloom Neurodivergent Program is bringing educators, families and community leaders together for a shared purpose. ICC will host the “Bridges to Belonging: Connecting Families, Schools and Community for Student Success” conference on April 10 at the ICC Belden Center, uniting partners from across the region to strengthen pathways for student success. The daylong conference is designed to foster collaboration among K-12 schools, higher education, families and community agencies, with a focus on helping students successfully transition from school to adulthood. Participants will include principals, administrators, educators, parents and community stakeholders who are committed to improving outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. The event will feature a keynote presentation, breakout sessions, a panel discussion and dedicated networking opportunities. Leading the conference as keynote speaker is Alyece Smith, a TEDx speaker, ADHD business coach, author and nonprofit founder from Kiln. ICC offers forklift operator certification at Belden Center

Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College’s Belden Center for an upcoming forklift operator certification course. The class will meet from 8 a.m. to noon April 13. Participants will receive OSHA safety instruction and gain practical experience through forklift simulator practice, safety check protocol, hands-on driving and loading and unloading operations. ICC realigns C.O.R.E. Program, launches partnerships with Lee County Sheriff's Office and Tupelo Police Department

Itawamba Community College has realigned its C.O.R.E. (Candidates on Rapid Entry) Program and announced its first formal partnerships with the Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office following an Insight Luncheon held April 2 at the ICC Belden Center. Originally established in 2021 in partnership with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the C.O.R.E. Program has been restructured to strengthen the pipeline of qualified candidates for public safety careers. The event brought together local and state agencies to learn more about the updated program, which is housed within ICC’s criminal justice offerings and provides students with a structured pathway into law enforcement through academic coursework, skills development and direct engagement with agencies. Through the partnership, agencies will provide hands-on instruction and mentorship opportunities, while ICC will equip graduates with comprehensive portfolios documenting skills, credentials and career readiness. “This is workforce development at its best, aligning education with real-world need,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. ICC Choirs to present spring concert March 31

An evening of music and artistry awaits as Itawamba Community College’s Choir and Chamber Choir take the stage for their spring concert on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center on the Fulton Campus. The performance will showcase a dynamic selection of choral works featuring both the full ICC Choir and the select Chamber Choir, highlighting the talent and dedication of ICC’s student musicians. The concert is free and open to the public, offering the community an opportunity to experience live music in one of the college’s premier performance venues.
