ICC's Eidt to present free humanities lecture, Feb. 4 Megan Lewis Eidt of Tupelo, Itawamba Community College’s 2025 Mississippi Humanities Teacher Award nominee, will present “In Your Face History: How Technology and Mass Media Have Transformed the Study of History,” Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Eidt will be among those honored at the Mississippi Humanities Council Awards Ceremony, Mar. 28, at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. The event pays tribute to outstanding faculty in traditional humanities fields at each of the state’s institutions of higher learning. Since 2004, she has taught history at ICC, where her activities have included former two-term president of the Tupelo Campus Faculty Association and former adviser to the ICC Political Science and Humanities Clubs. Her professional memberships include ICC Faculty Association, National Council on Public History, Atlanta History Center and American Historical Association. ICC registration continues for 2025 spring semester Registration for the 2025 spring semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Jan. 17 for traditional full-term day and night classes. The last day to add eLearning first eight-week classes is Jan. 22, and eLearning full-term classes, Jan. 24. The first day of class for both eLearning full-term and eight-week classes is Jan. 21. Financial aid is available as well as adult learner scholarships. Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are offered in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Instructional delivery methods include face-to-face and online. Students may attend classes on a four-day instructional schedule to provide an opportunity for a three-day weekend. ICC schedules spring 2025 Senior College sessions Itawamba Community College’s spring 2025 session of Senior College will kick off Jan. 15 with a presentation by Three Rivers Planning and Development District that will focus on the services they provide for individuals ages 55 and older. According to Kelleigh Riddle, Area Agency on Aging director, the many services include Title V employment (training and locating part-time employment for eligible participants) as well as the Medicaid Waiver Division, which is a statewide program designed to offer assistance to qualified Medicaid beneficiaries. It allows qualified individuals to remain in a home- or community-based setting as an alternative to nursing facility care or other institutional care. ICC schedules adult education enrollment/classes for January 2025 Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students in day and afternoon classes at the Belden Center, Jan. 13. Individuals 18 years of age and older will begin at 9 a.m., and 16-/17-year-old students, 1 p.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended. ICC C.O.R.E. program to host C.O.R.E. games Dec. 18-20 Itawamba Community College’s Candidates on Rapid Entry (CORE) cadets will host the C.O.R.E. games at the Fulton Campus, December 18-20, in the eLearning Building, which is on the west side of the David C. Cole Student Services Building parking lot on West Main Street. Included will be drills which could involve “gunfire” and testing other components of the responsibilities of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
