Faculty, Student Exhibitions Highlight Spring Season in ICC Fine Arts Gallery

Itawamba Community College is showcasing its second exhibition of the semester with a double feature highlighting the work of both faculty and students. The exhibition is free and open to be public while on view through Wednesday, March 4, in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Gallery on the Fulton Campus.

The Art Faculty Exhibition features paintings, drawings, metalpoint, mixed media and ceramics by Dr. Dana Arnold, Elizabeth Owen and Shawn Whittington. The exhibit presents works in traditional and experimental media and techniques, offering a broad view of the creative scholarship within ICC’s Fine Arts Division. A reception and question-and-answer session with the faculty artists will be held Wednesday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery.

The ICC Student Art Exhibition and Competition is on display in the lobby and hallways of the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Building. Student works are represented in drawing, painting, 2D and 3D design, digital art and ceramics. Participating students include Omarion Agnew, Courtney Black, Jordan Cayson, Alex Conseco Martinez, Logan Crane, Malakai David, Kaiden Donaldson, Brady Edington, Christian English, Daniella Estoque, Paula Elaine Garcia, Braxton Garrison, D’Aiysa Gordon, Emily Hudson, Jeffery Isbell, Mya Ivey, Abril Jaramillo, Alisia Jordan, Konner Lease, Kylie Long, Charlotte Mackey, Jazavian McGaha, Dawson Miles, Kamryn Moya, Peyton Oswalt, Nikolas Owens, Agostina Pizarro Periales, Isaiah Pannell, Ann Robinson, Jackson Robison, Blaine Roby, Breanna Sparks, Ethan Shotts, Kamron Sorrell, Callista Talbert, Abbigail Taylor, Lana Tubbs, Bela Wallace, Josie Warren, Kilee Webster, Cynder Williams and Andy Zacatenco.

The competition was judged by Gail Morton of Tremont and art instructor at Northwest Community College. Award winners are as follows:

In drawing, first place was awarded to Malakai David for “Still Life with Jack-O-Lanterns,” second place to Josie Warren for “Lovely Lady,” and third place to Callista Talbert for “Mushroom Garden.” Jackson Robison received honorable mention for “Arthur.”

In painting, first place went to Kylie Long for “Me and Isaiah,” second place to Josie Warren for “Emily’s Butterfly,” and third place to Kylie Long for “Billie.”

In 2D design, first place was awarded to Callista Talbert for “Man and Machine,” second place to Daniella Estoque for “The Look of Love,” and third place to Alisia Jordan for “Isolation.” Andy Zacatenco received honorable mention for “Self Portrait.”

In 3D design, first place went to Josie Warren for “Unserved,” second place to Paula Elaine Garcia for “Veiled Identity,” and third place to Ethan Shotts for “Times Reflection.” Abril Jaramillo received honorable mention for “Beneath.”

In ceramics, first place was awarded to Isaiah Pannell for “Montreal,” second place to Emily Hudson for “Familial Ties,” and third place to Brady Edington for “Vases.” Kylie Long received honorable mention for “Playtime.”

Daniella Estoque earned Best in Show for “Colored Still Life.”
