ICC reorganizes recruiting; adds staff

With a renewed emphasis on enrollment services and in an effort to better serve both prospective and current students, Itawamba Community College has reorganized recruiting.

Taylor Kelley of Pontotoc and Jordan Smith of Saltillo have been employed to focus exclusively on traditional student recruiting, which involves frequent visits to all high schools in Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties, according to Dr. Melissa Haab, dean of enrollment services.

“Taylor and Jordan will be available to assist area high school students in transitioning to Itawamba Community College,” Haab said. “In the past, ICC’s recruiters also served as academic advisers, and it was difficult to focus on both. With the reorganization, Taylor and Jordan, along with veteran recruiter Evie Storey of Ripley, become the face of ICC to incoming freshmen.”

A 2015 graduate of North Pontotoc High School, Kelley earned the associate’s degree from ICC and the bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications from the University of Mississippi. Her involvement has included Golden Key Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Indian Delegation and Student Government. She is the daughter of Shane and Patricia Kelley.

Smith, who was a 2015 graduate of Saltillo High School, interned with Mississippi State University athletics in communication broadcasting from 2015-18 and with Mississippi State football recruiting from 2018-19. He served as a broadcaster for Starkville High School football from 2017-18. He earned the bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi State in 2019. His parents are Bill and Wendy Smith.
