10 October ICC schedules open houses at Fulton, Belden October 10, 2017 By Thomas, Donna S. General 0 Open houses and formal openings for two facilities will be at Itawamba Community College next week. They include the band hall/safe shelter at the Fulton Campus at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 16, and the Precision Manufacturing/Robotics laboratory at the Belden Center at 2 p.m., Oct. 18. The Federal Emergency Management Agency provided $3.5 million in hazard mitigation funding to build the multipurpose hazardous weather safe room. The 13,585-square-foot facility has the capacity to protect 2,319 students, faculty and staff from wind speeds up to 250 miles per hour. The total cost of the project is $5.77 million. At the Belden Center, the Appalachian Regional Commission grant made possible the renovation of 21,000 square feet of space to install precision manufacturing and machining and robotics laboratories to consolidate the related training programs into one facility. The investment enables ICC to improve the workforce readiness of its students, ensuring a continuing supply of workers for manufacturers. The public is invited to both events.
