• ICC to honor military, first responders and healthcare professionals during All-American Heroes night, Oct. 13

  Both past and current members of the armed forces, first responders and healthcare professionals will be honored during Itawamba Community College’s All-American Heroes Night, Oct. 13, at Lambert Stadium/Eaton Field at the Fulton Campus during ICC’s football game with Hinds Community College, which begins at 6:30 p.m.             Special activities will include a salute during halftime featuring ICC’s All-American Band. Honorary captains, who will participate in the coin toss and be recognized during pregame beginning at 6 p.m., will be U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly of Saltillo, who has spent 36 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer and is currently serving as a Major General; North Mississippi EMS Authority Co-Director Al Wright of Tupelo, who also is an adjunct faculty member for ICC’s EMS Basic program; and North Mississippi Medical Center Safety Specialist Thomas Walker of Tupelo, retired Fire Chief for the City of Tupelo. • ICC's CR staff receives record number of CPRAM awards

  Several Itawamba Community College staff members received awards from the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi, which were presented during a recent virtual conference. The 21 awards were the most in the Community Relations Department’s history.             They include C.J. • ICC, MSU sign memorandum of understanding for successful transfer of honors credits

             Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University have signed a memorandum of understanding to successfully transfer honors credits.             The agreement, which was signed by ICC President Dr. Jay Allen and MSU Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. David Shaw late yesterday afternoon, will enable seamless transfer of the credits from ICC to the Shackouls Honors College at MSU.             Students from ICC seeking admission to the Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi State must follow the standard admissions procedures for transfer students, according to the agreement, and honors credits transferred from ICC will count at MSU.  There are two pathways for an ICC student to graduate in good standing from the Shackouls Honors College, including The Cursus Pathway (two specified honors courses, at least one three credit 3000-level Honors Interdisciplinary course with a grade of ‘C’ or higher and a for-credit Study Abroad, additional foreign language course or a faculty-led research project and successfully writing and defending an Honors thesis (0-6 credits). • ICC to honor five during Homecoming 2025, Oct. 9

              Itawamba Community College will honor its 2025 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Distinguished Service and Young Alumnus of the Year award recipients during Homecoming activities, Oct. 9, at the Fulton Campus. They include Mitch Waycaster of Tupelo, Alumnus of the Year; Mike Sullivan of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Jameika Hoskins of Cula Vista, Calif., Athletic Hall of Fame; Randy Kelley of Tupelo, Distinguished Service; and Phillip Faulkner of Amory, Young Alumnus of the Year.                 Waycaster, who is executive vice president of both Renasant Corporation and Renasant Bank, attended Itawamba Junior College in Fulton from fall 1976 to May 1978, where he commuted daily while working after graduating from Shannon High School. He attended Mississippi State University and  earned the bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. • ICC to honor Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame Sept. 23

  Itawamba Community College will honor its 2021 Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees during Homecoming activities, Sept. 23, at the Fulton Campus. They include Karen Camp McFerrin of Mantachie, Alumnus of the Year; and Cameron “CeCee” Austin Cavanaugh of Pontotoc and Jeff Tally of Saltillo, Athletic Hall of Fame.             From 1968-70, McFerrin attended ICC, where she earned the associate’s degree. She was a Wesley Foundation officer, Drum Major, vice president of the Home Economics Club and charter member of Phi Theta Kappa, Hall of Fame, IJC Beauty and Dean’s List Scholar. She continued her education at the University of Mississippi, where she earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in home economics. She began her career working for the Mississippi Extension Service in Tylertown before returning home to accept a position at ICC, where she served as a recruiter, teacher and adviser. McFerrin played a vital role in the organization of the Indian Delegation.                  Itawamba Community College will honor its 2023 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Distinguished Service and Young Alumnus of the Year award recipients during Homecoming activities, Oct. 5, at the Fulton Campus.  They include Ret. Col. Sheldon Morris of Oxford, Alumnus of the Year; Anthony Brock of North Little Rock, Ark. and David Schumaker of Jacksonville, Ala., Athletic Hall of Fame; Donna Thomas of New Albany, Distinguished Service award; and Mari-leen (Linkie) Marais of Fort, Lauderdale, Fla., Young Alumnus of the Year award.             Morris, who is the executive vice president for programs at Delta Health Alliance, completed 22 years of honorable service as the Military Deputy Director for the Army Profession and Leadership. He began his career in the 3rd Brigade, 1st calvary Division at Fort Hood, Tex. A 1997 graduate of ICC, he earned the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and the master’s degree from the U.S. Army’s Command General and Staff College.
