• Registration underway for four ICC continuing education classes at Belden Center

  Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for four classes that are offered through its Continuing Education Department at the Belden Center.                 They include Grant Writing (Part 2), EMT-Basic, Forklift and CPR (Heartsaver®).                 Grant Writing (Part 2), which meets May 31 and June 7 from 8 a.m.-noon, builds on the foundational skills taught in Grant Writing and dives deeper into advanced techniques for writing compelling and competitive grant proposals. Participants will learn how to craft persuasive narratives, strengthen the case for funding and address complex requirements set by various funding organizations. By the end of the class, students will be better equipped to write high-quality, successful grant applications.                 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an instructional course that prepares individuals to function in the prehospital environment. The EMT course provides instruction in basic life support care of sick and injured persons. Participants in the program intern with an ambulance service providing advanced life support services for the community. • ICC schedules pathways classes to begin Sept. 10 at Belden Center

  Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin Sept. 10 at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).                 They include Electrician Assistant, Sept. 10-Oct. 10, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; Small Engine Repair, Sept. 10-Nov. 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; and Introduction to Welding and Cutting, Sept. 10-Oct. 10, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. Electrician Assistant provides the foundational knowledge of basic math and basic safety rules; the use of hand, measuring and power tools; basic electricity and residential writing. Students can also prepare for entry-level jobs in industry or private businesses. Small Engine Repair Technician enables students to prepare for a career as they develop small engine repair skills, and upon completion, they will be equipped for an entry-level technician position at an existing small engine repair business or to open their own related business.                 Introduction to Welding and Cutting is designed to give students entry-level skills and to prepare them to do basic GMAW and SMAW welding jobs that some industries and small businesses require. They include Food Management Certification, Jan. 13-Feb. 7, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Certified Nursing Assistant, Jan. 13-Mar. 26, Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.; Medical Administrative Assistant, Jan 13-Apr. 9, Mondays, 5-9 p.m. plus additional online assignments; Medical Assistant, Jan. 13-May 8, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6-9 p.m.; Business Office Specialist, Jan. 14-May 8, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-9 p.m.; and EMT Basic, Jan. 14-May 8, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-10 p.m.      Food Management Certification includes the essential skills needed to thrive in the restaurant and hospitality industry. • Registration underway for three ICC continuing education classes that begin soon at the Belden Center

  Registration is continuing for several continuing education classes that begin soon at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             They include Autoimmune Nutrition, Oct. 12; and Beginning Cake Decorating and Basic Computer Skills, both Oct. 16.             Autoimmune Nutrition, which meets Thursday nights for six weeks from 6-7:30 p.m., includes tailoring the diet to manage an overactive immune system, the definition of autoimmune disorder, dealing with increased sugar consumption and foods that heal. Cost is $45.             Basic Computer Skills is for the computer operator beginner. Included are basic operation instruction, Microsoft Word and such functions as email. No keyboarding will be taught in the class which meets Mondays and Tuesdays for four weeks. The cost is $85.             Beginning Cake Decorating meets each Monday night for four weeks. The $125 fee includes the cost of supplies and the Wilton decorating kit, which participants will keep.             Limited seating is available for all classes. • ICC schedules speed typing, intro to Python classes at Belden Center

  Registration is underway for speed typing and introduction to Python classes at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             Introduction to Python, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for five weeks, begins May 15. Designed for beginners, the course provides instruction in the core concepts of Python, and students will be able to understand and complete basic programming functions. Python is a programming language that is used in data analytics, artificial intelligence and Web programming.             Speed Typing meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning May 16. The instructor-led, interactive class provides the best tips and strategies to enhance typing skills to improve speed to enhance employee effectiveness, regardless of career pathway.
