14 February ICC to present "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Mar. 21, 22 February 14, 2024 By Thomas, Donna S. General 0 Itawamba Community College has selected the cast and crew for its spring production, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which will be Mar. 21 and 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus. Cast members are Jacob Evans, Spencer Griffie, both of Amory; Holly Foster of Marietta; Adam Harmon of Nettleton; Ron Jenkins, Kyla Ratliff, both of Smithville; and Alexis Walker of Tupelo. Crew members are Dylan Christian of Amory; Skylar Sewell of Biloxi; Joey White of Houston; Kassandra Ramirez of Pontotoc; and Jimmy K. Humphries of Vina, Ala. “Sleepy Hollow” is a quiet little town where nothing much happens until Ichabod Crane, the new schoolteacher comes to town. For once in his life, the burly and boisterous Brom Bones faces competition. Will his love interest, Katrina Van Tassel (the only daughter of a wealthy farmer), choose the handsome Brom Bones, or will she wed the learned man of letters, Ichabod Crane? “Audience members are in for a topsy-turvy ride filled with laughter, spooks, goblins, a barking dog, a headless horseman and a runaway horse,” said director Dr. Laurie McBride. “Join us for this adventurous retelling of an American classic by Washington Irving.” “When I was looking for a spring play, I luckily happened upon one of my favorites from school days, Washington Irving’s ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,’” according to McBride. “The retelling by Kathryn Schultz Miller is a delightful, fast-paced story with plenty of twists and turns. Along the way, audiences will visit a tavern, schoolhouse, singing lesson, farmhouse, marketplace and a scary walk through a covered bridge. As Miller reminds us, this is a ‘friendly’ play, not to be taken too seriously. Be prepared for a fun evening!” Two ticket options are available, dinner theatre ($22) or play only ($5). Dinner theatre tickets are available for purchase at www.iccms.edu/sleepyhollow by Mar. 10, and tickets for the show only may be purchased at the door beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Admission to the play only is free for students, faculty and staff who have a valid ICC I.D. For more information, email lsmcbride@iccms.edu.
