• ICC schedules Dinner & Demo series

  Itawamba Community College will sponsor a Dinner & Demo series, beginning with an already sold-out session, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. at Forklift in Tupelo with chef Cooper Miller.             Available sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m., October 9, at the ICC Belden Center with Foodsmith chef David Leathers and at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 16, at Park Heights with chef Dan Schroeder.             “The chefs at each location will provide a demonstration related to the dinner preparation, which will follow,” according to Josh Gammill, ICC director of Continuing Education, which is cosponsoring the series with the Food Management Certification pathway. “The three restaurants and their executive chefs have created a unique interactive experience for participants,” Gammill said.             Limited seating is available. • ICC offers career pathway options in October

              Registration is underway for several career pathway classes offered during October at Itawamba Community College. Both online and face-to-face options are available. Students who meet eligibility requirements may qualify for tuition assistance.             They include Electrician Assistant, a face-to-face class offered at the Belden Center. It begins Oct. 19, will meet from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, through Nov. 9.               Itawamba Community College will present “Over the River and Through the Woods,” with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m., Mar. 26-28, in the banquet rooms of the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus.             The Joe DiPietro comedy is about a lively Italian family, which focuses on Nick and his decision to move away from his grandparents or stay in New York. • ICC to offer four innovative scheduling options for fall

             With classes set to begin Aug. 17, Itawamba Community College is one of the only two-year institutions in the state to offer four innovative course schedule offerings for the fall semester.             “In an effort to allow for physical distancing in the classrooms and assist with enhanced cleaning procedures, classes will be taught using one of the four instructional methods,” said Dr. Michelle Sumerel, vice president of instructional services.             The offerings include face-to-face only, face-to-face hybrid, face-to-face Zoom and online only. These instructional methods ensure that all students who registered for a face-to-face class will have 50 percent or more of that class taught in that delivery system each week. Face-to-face only courses are delivered in a traditional format on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays at all three of the College’s locations, Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Sumerel said that all classrooms have been reconfigured with desks positioned six feet apart, and typically larger classes have been relocated to spaces that will accommodate more students to enable physical distancing. • ICC reopens key health program this fall using innovative instructional delivery method

              Itawamba Community College is reopening a key health science program this fall using an innovative instructional delivery method.             Diagnostic Medical Sonography will combine an in-person boot camp/lab session at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters, clinical rotations and online didactic courses. DMS will begin as a one-year (three-semester) program in general sonography, according to instructor Amanda Stone. Graduates will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and will be eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography examinations, including Principles and Instrumentation to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdominal and Obstetrics/Gynecology.  There will also be an option for students to continue into a second year of Cardiac and Vascular Sonography. Beginning in the fall of 2023, licensed professionals may enter that option.                Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for several pathway programs that are scheduled to begin in October.             They include Certified Nursing Assistant (two classes), Commercial Truck Driving, Food Service Pathway, Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification, Basic Construction and Quality Improvement Associate.             Certified Nursing Assistant will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 12-Dec. 16, and the day class will meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Oct. 12-27. The program prepares participants to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon successful program and examination completion, employment could be available in nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics.             Commercial Truck Driving begins Oct. 12 and will meet Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Nov. 6. The program prepares individuals to drive Class A semi trucks and other commercial vehicles.
