• Registration underway for Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification class

              Registration is underway for a day class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program, which will begin Jan. 13, 2020 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             The class will meet Mondays through Thursdays through Feb. 27 from 8 a.m.-noon.             The program is designed to prepare participants desiring to have a career in high-performance manufacturing to be successful. Through this program, students use critical thinking skills, update core skills and knowledge and will earn nationally-recognized credentials.             Developed to respond to core knowledge for the current and emerging industry sectors located within the north Mississippi region, the 94-hour MSBC program includes three national credentials – 10-hour OSHA, the American Heart Association’s CPR and the Career Readiness Certificate. • ICC's MiBEST program to offer 11 additional pathway options beginning in January

              Beginning in January 2022, participants in Itawamba Community College’s MiBEST program will have 11 additional pathway options.             Currently, students can choose from Heating and Air Conditioning Technology, Certified Nursing Assistant and Welding and Cutting, according to Linzy Patterson, director of Adult Education at ICC.             Additional programs will include Automotive Technology, Business Office Specialist, Commercial Truck Driving, Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrician Assistant, Food Service Pathway, Hospitality Management Technology, Manufacturing Basic Skills, Pharmacy Tech, Phlebotomy and Introduction to Welding and Cutting.             The Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training program is a workforce and economic development initiative that transitions low-skilled, non-credentialed Mississippians from the economic sidelines into careers earning family-sustaining wages, according to Patterson.             The program is intended for individuals who did not earn a traditional high school diploma, those in low-wage jobs or other nontraditional students.             Those enrolled in the MiBEST program at ICC are assigned a Navigator to guide them through each step of the program, including filling out an application, completing their coursework and transitioning into the labor market, Patterson said. • ICC's enhanced Summer Edge program offers tuition free up to six hours and waived fees

  Itawamba Community College is continuing its Summer Edge program, and the enhanced version will offer all students an opportunity to take up to six credit hours (two three-credit hour classes) with tuition and all fees waived.             Classes include both online and face-to-face.             “Itawamba Community College is committed to student success and has worked diligently over the past two years to ensure all students are receiving the resources they need to be successful,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “We feel that this is a significant opportunity to reengage/engage students who continue to experience economic barriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will enable students to get an edge in classes through quality instruction at ICC. • ICC to offer Basic PLC - 5/500/Micrologix class at Belden Center

             Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a Basic PLC – 5/500/Micrologix class that is scheduled for July 11-14 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.             The class is an overview of the application functions of the Allen-Bradley PLC5/500/Micrologix family of programmable controllers and the programming methods using RSLogix 500 programming software. Ladder-logic programming, documenting and online monitoring will be explained. • BancorpSouth supports ICC's high school equivalency program

  BancorpSouth Bank (NYSE: BXS) is committed to its communities.  The bank recently donated $3,000 to Itawamba Community College’s high school equivalency program.  The adult education/basic skills program, formerly known as the GED program, enables students—ages 16 and older—to complete a high school equivalency diploma through classes offered in the college’s five-county district, which includes Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties.  “We are grateful for this significant donation from BancorpSouth,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “None of the work we do would be possible without the generous support of individuals and companies, like BancorpSouth, that believe in the mission of Itawamba Community College and our communities as a whole.”  ICC received the donation from BancorpSouth on Aug. 20, when Allen was invited to speak to community leaders about the college’s work with students enrolled in the adult education/basic skills program.
