Melanie Francis selected ICC's William Winter Scholar

Fulton native Melanie McCrimon Francis of Saltillo, lead online English instructor, has been selected as Itawamba Community College’s William Winter Scholar for 2019.

She will be among statewide recipients honored during opening and closing ceremonies at the 30th Annual Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration, Feb. 21-23.

Francis, who is in her eleventh year at ICC, was first employed in 2007 in workforce development as the instructional technology specialist and in 2008, she moved to eLearning as the lead online instructor to design and instruct the business and office technology, computer and information systems online courses. In 2014, Francis assumed her current position. She credits her strong start at ICC as a “catalyst for beginning a very rewarding education and career.”

Francis earned the associate’s degree from ICC in 1998 and the bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Mississippi University for Women in 2000. After working as an information systems representative for Central Service Association in Tupelo for seven years, she obtained the master’s degree in instructional technology from Mississippi State University in 2010. She has additional graduate hours in English from Ole Miss, the University of West Alabama and Liberty University.

She and her husband, Rob, have two sons.

This year’s conference theme, “The Great River Road,” takes an in-depth look at the shared culture, heritage and literature of the region.
