• ICC joins in providing new option to earn High School Equivalency Diploma

  New High School Equivalency Option Available in Mississippi Mississippians who have dropped out of high school have a new option to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma, TotalTranscript® offered by DiplomaSender. • ICC to offer four innovative scheduling options for fall

             With classes set to begin Aug. 17, Itawamba Community College is one of the only two-year institutions in the state to offer four innovative course schedule offerings for the fall semester.             “In an effort to allow for physical distancing in the classrooms and assist with enhanced cleaning procedures, classes will be taught using one of the four instructional methods,” said Dr. Michelle Sumerel, vice president of instructional services.             The offerings include face-to-face only, face-to-face hybrid, face-to-face Zoom and online only. These instructional methods ensure that all students who registered for a face-to-face class will have 50 percent or more of that class taught in that delivery system each week. Face-to-face only courses are delivered in a traditional format on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays at all three of the College’s locations, Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Sumerel said that all classrooms have been reconfigured with desks positioned six feet apart, and typically larger classes have been relocated to spaces that will accommodate more students to enable physical distancing. • ICC offers career pathway options in October

              Registration is underway for several career pathway classes offered during October at Itawamba Community College. Both online and face-to-face options are available. Students who meet eligibility requirements may qualify for tuition assistance.             They include Electrician Assistant, a face-to-face class offered at the Belden Center. It begins Oct. 19, will meet from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, through Nov. 9. • ICC adds ZOOM only option for spring classes

              Itawamba Community College students will have a fifth option for class delivery during the 2021 spring semester with the addition of ZOOM only.             According to Dr. Michelle Sumerel, vice president of instructional services, the classes will be offered via ZOOM in real time with a real instructor. “The option will afford students the opportunity to be more engaged and more interactive with their instructors.”             As classes fill, Sumerel said, more will be added to the 2021 spring semester schedule to enable students to take advantage of this option. • MSBC class to begin Apr. 29 at ICC-Belden

             Registration is continuing for a night class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program, which will begin Apr. 29 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             The class will meet Mondays through Thursdays through June 19 from 6-9 p.m.             The program is designed to prepare students desiring to have a career in high-performance manufacturing to be successful. Through this program, students use critical thinking skills, update core skills and knowledge and will earn nationally-recognized credentials.             Developed to respond to core knowledge for the current and emerging industry sectors located within the north Mississippi region, the 94-hour MSBC program includes three national credentials – 10-hour OSHA, the American Heart Association’s CPR and the Career Readiness Certificate. Comprehensive interactive classes, computer-based tools, experienced instructors and excellent reference materials create a valuable training experience.
