General 0 Registration is continuing for a day class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program beginning Aug. 7 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. The class will meet Mondays through Thursdays through Sept. 19 from 8 a.m.-noon. The program is designed to prepare students desiring to have a career in high-performance manufacturing to be successful. Through this program, students use critical thinking skills, update core skills and knowledge and received nationally-recognized credentials. Developed to respond to core knowledge for the current and emerging industry sectors located within the north Mississippi region, the 94-hour MBSC includes three national credentials – 10-hour OSHA, the American Heart Association’s CPR and the Career Readiness Certificate. Comprehensive interactive classes, computer-based tools, experienced instructors and excellent reference materials create a valuable training experience. Participants will learn how to read a caliper, micrometer and blue print drawing; learn how to perform CPR, what companies do to improve and ensure safety, productivity and quality of their processes and products and improve their computer skills. Business Office Specialist will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m. from Aug. 10-Dec. 7. The program is designed for students to develop basic office, communication and computer technology skills. Through intensive lab instruction, students will have the opportunity to attain an Intuit Quickbooks® certification and receive training and instruction to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Microsoft Excel and Word. In addition, participants will receive instruction and training in performance of technical office tasks, basic math, fundamentals of bookkeeping and basic human resource management. Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Aug. 16; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Aug. 23. Financial aid may be available as well as adult learner scholarships. Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. The primary instructional delivery method this fall will be face-to-face classes; however, additional options are available.
