ICC schedules fall 2022 open registration

Itawamba Community College has scheduled open registration for the 2022 fall semester.             Options include Aug. 10 from 1-5 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses; Aug. 11 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Fulton Campus and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 12 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Locations are the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus and the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus.             Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Aug. 15; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Aug. 22.             Financial aid is available as well as adult learner scholarships.             Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Instructional options include both face-to-face and online. ICC's Vaughn, Stevenson have new roles

Beginning July 1, Tonya Vaughn of Mantachie and Chris Stevenson of Fulton have new roles at Itawamba Community College.             Vaughn is the dean of Health Science Instruction, and Stevenson, dean of Academic Instruction.             Vaughn, who is an alumnus of ICC, earned the bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama and the master’s degree from Western Governors University. She has been employed at ICC for 25 years, previously serving as director of the Surgical Technology program. Vaughn’s professional memberships are the Association of Surgical Technologists, Mississippi Board of Nursing, Association of Surgical Technology (curriculum writing team), Association of Career Technical Educators, Career Technical Officers Association and advisory committee for Pontotoc and Itawamba County Allied Health. During her tenure with ICC, Vaughn has been instrumental in coordinating efforts with healthcare partners, including all sites of the North Mississippi Medical Center, Specialty Orthopedic Group, Baptist Memorial Hospital facilities, Magnolia Regional in Corinth and the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. ICC schedules pathways classes to begin in August at Belden Center

Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin in August at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).             They include Business Office Specialist, August 8-December 8, 5-9 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays; Certified Nursing Assistant, August 8-October 19, 5-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays; EMT Basic, August 9-December 8, 5-10 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays; Google IT Support Certificate, August 8-December 8, online (self-paced) and Pharmacy Technician, August 9-December 6, Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m.             Additional opportunities are available including Human Resource Assistant, Introduction to Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification and Quality Improvement Associate.             For more information about all classes or to register, call (662) 407-1569 or email pathways@iccms.edu.

Registration continues for ICC July orientation sessions

It is not too late to register for July orientation sessions that are scheduled for both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College.           They include July 19 at 1 p.m. and July 21 at 8:30 a.m. at the Fulton Campus and July 21 at 5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus.           Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions; however, they can attend regardless of the location where they plan to enroll in classes. All students, including adult learners, are invited.           Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors. Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. ICC to offer Basic PLC - 5/500/Micrologix class at Belden Center

           Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a Basic PLC – 5/500/Micrologix class that is scheduled for July 11-14 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.             The class is an overview of the application functions of the Allen-Bradley PLC5/500/Micrologix family of programmable controllers and the programming methods using RSLogix 500 programming software. Ladder-logic programming, documenting and online monitoring will be explained. ICC schedules E1-Electricity class at Belden Center

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for an E1 – electricity class that is scheduled for June 6-9 from 7 am.-3:30 p.m.             The class provides instruction in the basic laws, formulas and principles of electrical theory. Topics covered are AC and DC voltage, current and resistance measuring techniques, electrical safety in the work environment, basic electrical circuits, electrical measurements, circuit analysis, inductance and capacitance, combination circuits, transformers and multimeters.             Cost is $352.             To register or for more information, contact Becky Kelly at (662) 407-1500 or email rakelly@iccms.edu.

May 30 application deadline for ICC selective admission programs

            May 30 is the deadline for application for four selective admission programs at Itawamba Community College.             They include electrical, industrial maintenance, robotics and automation and welding. All are taught at the ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road).             Selective admission programs have a limited number of openings each year and have specific entry-level admission requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program. ICC Enhanced Forklift Training class to begin May 5

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for an Enhanced Forklift Operator Training class that is scheduled for May 5 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.             The class will enable individuals to receive hands-on training on three different classifications of forklifts: Standup Rider (Class 1), Order Selector (Class 2) and LP Gas Powered Sit-Down Forklift (Class 4).             Topics include the requirements of the OSHA Powered Industrial Truck Regulation 29 CFR 1910.178, safe-powered industrial truck operation and how forklifts work, identification of operating hazards as well as the general principles of safe operation and how to properly inspect and maintain a forklift.             Cost is $85.             To register or for more information, contact Becky Kelly at (662) 407-1500 or email rakelly@iccms.edu.

ICC's enhanced Summer Edge program offers tuition free up to six hours and waived fees

Itawamba Community College is continuing its Summer Edge program, and the enhanced version will offer all students an opportunity to take up to six credit hours (two three-credit hour classes) with tuition and all fees waived.             Classes include both online and face-to-face.             “Itawamba Community College is committed to student success and has worked diligently over the past two years to ensure all students are receiving the resources they need to be successful,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “We feel that this is a significant opportunity to reengage/engage students who continue to experience economic barriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will enable students to get an edge in classes through quality instruction at ICC. That is our continuing commitment.”             ICC’s summer schedule enables students to take classes they need or those that will enable them to have an edge in their college career.
